Fallout 4 is a great game with big flaws
  • With Skyrim modding, I always felt that the mods are somewhat disjointed and it takes skilled modders to stitch together. Here in FO4 its impressive how stable the pack was and how well the quests worked together.

I modded a lot of Skyrim and I just don't understand this part. Modlists by other people are very stable, I've never had a problem with Wabbajack or lists with just written guides like lexy or phoenix. I've made my own lists and I am not a skilled modder, I just read the descriptions of the mods I was downloading and recent comments.

I didn't mod fallout 4 very much besides appearance mods and settlement mods. I liked building settlements. But I hated the ending. Ugh. I replayed Skyrim a bunch with and without mods but not fallout 4 because of the ending.

  • [Meme] Maybe the discussion will be different this time compared to the ten others? (Edit: obligate, not mandate)
  • Well the way I was thinking is that in order to talk about how Rookie overreacted and fucked up, I would have to get people to look at the original thread and establish why this was not animal abuse or misinformation. Many people have not read the original thread. It was not animal abuse to talk about how cats can theoretically be vegan and talk about the studies that support it. Rookie decided this was animal abuse and misinformation and removed the whole mod team while power tripping when it wasn't against any rules. Now LW has rules about misinformation as if to back up Rookie being able to do this again. The mods were restored but people keep thinking Rookie was justified. It just blows my mind. I'm also not the only one talking about obligate carnivores and cats being vegan on this post, I'm just the only one that read the original thread and am encouraging others to see how Rookie messed up and this was an extreme overreaction rather than more circlejerking vegans bad. Reddit doesn't even get this bad, LW seems like they want to be a mini reddit but worse.

  • It's been infuriating seeing everyone's reactions devolve into dunking on vegans about vegan cat food instead of the overreaction of Rookie. So I will say that it IS possible for a cat to have a vegan diet as long as the essential nutrients are supplemented and you work with a vet. One big thing is taurine, but the way meat is processed in cat food removes the taurine so it is added back with synthetic taurine anyway. Like just read the actual thread Rookie freaked out on. No one was saying only feed your cat vegetables and hope for the best.

Also people using obligate carnivore but not understanding what it means. What is an obligate carnivore?

"Some carnivores, particularly cats (family Felidae), are obligate carnivores, meaning they cannot obtain all the nutrients that they need from the plant kingdom and bacteria. In particular, obligate carnivores lack the enzyme needed to split carotene, obtained from plants, into vitamin A. Instead, these animals obtain vitamin A from the liver of their prey. Obligate carnivores are similarly unable to synthesize some essential very-long-chain, highly unsaturated fatty acids that other animals can make from shorter fatty acids found in plant."

So, an obligate carnivore is an animal that needs to (is obligated to) obtain some nutrients by eating the flesh of other animals (or those nutrients would have to be supplied in a form the cat can absorb by means of supplementation). Cats do not have the long digestive tracts of ruminants to efficiently ferment raw starch or fiber, but that doesn’t mean they cannot digest plant matter at all. It also does not mean they are unable to obtain any nutrients from plants or from fiber. However, being an obligate carnivore does mean that their diet MUST provide certain nutrients from the flesh of other animals or from supplementation.

Studies on cats eating a vegan diet? Science says we need more studies because it is not as black and white as all the people kneejerking about it are saying.

Whilst the quality and amount of evidence needs to be considered in formulating recommendations, there was no overwhelming evidence of adverse effects arising from use of these diets and there was some evidence of benefits. It is, however, recommended that future high-quality studies, with standardized outcome measures and large sample sizes, be conducted. At the current time, if guardians wish to feed their companion animals vegan diets, a cautious approach should be taken using commercially produced diets which have been formulated considering the nutritional needs of the target species.

I learned a lot by listening to the original commenters instead of circlejerking about vegans bad amirite. But I couldn't possibly reply to every comment with this so I'll leave it here instead. There is a reason I don't use a Lemmy.world account, their moderation sucks.

  • Why does the "Media Bias Fact Checker" - Bot gets downvoted so much lately?
  • That's weird, I use summit and it renders like the screenshot. I don't use connect but maybe yours needs to be updated. Only one or maybe two apps had a 10 originally before the post but it has been updated since then to reflect changes devs have made after the post.

  • How do women feel about the "downblouse"?
  • I'm female and bi and it is definitely noticeable when someone is staring at my chest and it is very uncomfortable. When I was younger there were certain guys that rarely looked me in my face and were just looking at my chest the whole time. I asked other girls about it and they agreed they too felt them gazing at their chests and it was really uncomfortable and off-putting for them as well. If you wanna help then tell them discreetly to tighten their bra straps. Otherwise I don't find it acceptable to stare at a woman's chest. A glance maybe but you should really be looking at their faces. People are not meat or eye candy, don't objectify them, just remember the person they are inside. There may be women ok with it and like flaunting it but that's not been my personal experience.

  • CDC gives doctors new IUD insertion guidelines after TikTok outcry
  • I had an IUD (Mirena) and never gave birth and it was the worst pain I've ever experienced. I was yelling and crying in pain during/after insertion. Removal was easier but still pretty damn painful. I took some ibuprofen before hand and it did not really help.

  • They Never Fit
  • I have to use unlined panache bras, all the bras I tried getting in other american brands with like foam cups didn't fit right. I'm American and used the abrathatfits calculator. I went up a band size to 36 since the original 34 band recommended was kinda tight so I'm a 36E (UK). Amazon is great for trying and returning bras. Otherwise there is nowhere else to shop locally for me besides the big corpo stores that only sell ill fitted bras. Honestly if I want to look cute I wear panache bras, otherwise I wear 2xl sports bras with the pads taken out.

  • Is this normal for girls or just a extreme edge case? (Serious question)
  • Girl same, it took me a couple of guys and years before I had an orgasm. Luckily my current partner is very patient with me and I hope you find someone like that too. I feel like a lot of maybe younger or inexperienced guys just jackhammer a girl and then they're done ugh. Sorry for misunderstanding you earlier, looks like we had much more in common than I thought! Judging by the down votes it looks like I said something offensive, and I just wanted to say sorry about that. This is just my experience.

I think I did ask about that and since she doesn't have trouble inserting the speculum she said I didn't have it. I use menstrual cups with lube just fine, although I do use a cup on the softer side.

  • Is this normal for girls or just a extreme edge case? (Serious question)
  • You're probably right, I never used lube with tampons but if I did it might not have hurt so bad. I did feel it was less tight putting them in once my virginity was gone but it still felt like tearing using them so maybe that was just me. Just now I tried searching but all I got was tampons don't take your virginity which I already knew and was not trying to imply. I use cups now with lube and it is much better than tampons for me.

    Edit:

    Will tampons hurt with endometriosis?

They can, but the tampon pain associated with endometriosis tends to be similar to endometriosis dyspareunia, a term used to describe pain during sex. With endometriosis, a tampon can cause a heavy pain felt deep in the abdomen, or cramping.

Sometimes the tampon pain related to endometriosis also can cause your vaginal muscles to tense, causing a sharp pain at the entrance of the vagina when inserting or removing a tampon.

TINA tip: If you have endometriosis, speak with your doctor about which options for managing your period might be most comfortable. Speak up about how you’re feeling so your doctor can help you determine which type of pain relief options might work for you.

TIL I may have had endometriosis this whole time. I was wondering how I was using tampons wrong when I have heavy flows that need tampon+pad to manage.

  • Is this normal for girls or just a extreme edge case? (Serious question)
  • It feels like nothing but rubbing for me? Idk. But I definitely recommend the book. I'm not saying those 80% hate penetration, but it isn't a big part. I know when I talked to my gyno about painful sex, she said use plenty of lube and orgasm before penetration. Very good advice in case anyone needs it.

I'm glad you found relief from the religious oppression. We need less shaming and better sex ed for everyone. Thanks for your wishes, I wish you the same!

  • Is this normal for girls or just a extreme edge case? (Serious question)
  • Understandable. I was never into penetration and thought I was weird but after talking to more women and then reading Come As You Are, it clicked that I was actually normal and in the majority (80% are like me). Not that being in the minority is weird, if you read the book you'll find that is actually normal too. I hate masturbation or sex without a vibrator lol. I never felt safe talking to my parents either, they were super religious and invaded my privacy regularly. I was an adult before getting toys, and everything sex related sucked before them.

  • Open Lemmy links in current instance, not forced to switch instances

I love the app so far but I am having trouble with opening Lemmy links from other instances. When someone links to say a Lemmy.world post, I am hit with a window saying I have to have a Lemmy.world account in order to vote and such. This is incredibly inconvenient, I don't know how voyager does it but voyager just lets me view the post and vote/etc. in my instance without forcing me to change accounts. Anyway to get rid of this behavior so it is more like voyager? I want other Lemmy links to be opened in my instance so I can vote and such.

Also unrelated but just now I was unable to upload a picture from summit and had to switch apps to upload the photo.
