It had been the expected default for pretty much an entire decade. Also X often supported a different size viewport and desktop so the view would scroll. Not sure if anyone really liked using that.
If you actually want to find a file on a long abandoned laptop, it may be easier to pull the drive and use an external enclosure to read it with a current system. If you have the hardware. No need for any of the other hardware, rtc, nvram, let alone the os to work.
Btdt. Forgetting a username is often more annoying than a password. Many login and reset forms let you use an email address or phone number or something instead for probably just that reason. Some places will need a support contact.
There is the small hope that all this work has lead to better processes and checks to make finding problems, mistakes, and abuse more easily and cheaply.
All my PS3 controllers work badly. At least one gets a stick stuck in a corner sometimes. At least one misses some button presses or has a dead button. At least one randomly sends extra button presses. And an off brand one is just hard mode because it somehow doesn't respond the way some games expect.
Otoh I've never found fault in my PS4 controllers. Are there and good tests I should know about?
But neither of these is too surprising, since the PS3 controllers are very old and very used and the PS4 controllers have had a shorter and easier life.
My first thought was some military gear as well. A scarf or travel utensils or bag or something. Actually even the gloves I got are probably over 20 years old.
Rescued pets cats be priceless, though keeping them fed and healthy and happy can cost a fair bit.
Can't remember when I bought my de razor, but it was old even then. And it's the quick and convenient trapdoor type. I rinse and flip the blade after each shave as it only takes a few seconds. It even came with a travel case. Flea market price range, I think, well under 10€.
I have a big stack of blades I ordered from somewhere as well and they'll last a while.
Except for the corn part. Sugar sources vary around the world.
