Do you reread books?
  • I reread books all the time. I have several I go back to regularly from my preteen/teen years. It's like watching a movie from your childhood, lol, nostalgic and comfortable. I always pick up new/forgotten tidbits .

  • 🤣🤣 This is most entertained I've been online in a long time, lol. I don't know what you're doing, and I hope you're taking care of yourself, but thank you for all the laughs.

  • Obama calls out obsession with Titanic sub while people turn blind eye to migrant boat tragedy
  • I'm "obsessed" with the sub because of the irony, the lack of certification, and all the stupid decisions that went into it. The cause of the sub's destruction is very interesting to discuss. Every time I learn more about the company and the CEO's decisions, I'm more baffled that anyone went anywhere with them.

The migrant boat situation is super sad and not fun to discuss. I don't come to social media to be depressed.

  • Be patient! We'll get there eventually.
  • Both jerboa for Lemmy and the kbin app have made multiple improvements in the past week or so since I joined, so I'm more than happy to be patient and let the devs have the time they need. Especially since I have no idea how to do any of it, and I'm also not paying them for any of it. They know better than us users which bugs to actually prioritize for app functionality, versus which requests are just "I want" features.

If people care that much, they can contribute to the code (?), since it's open source. If they can't contribute then they should stop complaining.

  • My opinion on Beehaw registration process. What do you all think?
  • I'm not complaining, but it did feel like an interview to me. But that's just my anxiety talking. I haven't gotten logged in yet, but I've heard there's a backlog of accounts to get through that have been approved. High volume of applications causing issues, I'm guessing. But I don't think the three questions is a bad thing for beehaw to require. If you can't be bothered to put in that little amount of effort, then you probably won't actively contribute, with comments or posts, so what will you bring to the community? Or if people give negative/troll answers, it keeps them out.

  • My opinion on Beehaw registration process. What do you all think?
  • Yeah, I definitely did feel like it was an "interview" and if I answered wrong I wouldn't get in. I still get the spinning wheel, but I'll check back tomorrow. I've read in a few places now that a lot of accounts have been approved but are essentially in a queue. It should hopefully be caught up soon.

  • Can we stop showing NSFW subs on the sidebar?
  • I won't go back to mastodon because I opened the app to a huge picture of a wang, and I do NOT want that content, so I have the settings set to block it. It wasn't blurred, or hidden behind a "click to reveal" button. Just wide open, filling my entire screen. And I had to keep seeing it to check if it was tagged nsfw, and to click to report.

  • Reddit CEO slams protesters, says he'll change site rules
  • I honestly found myself browsing Facebook more and more over the past several months, rather than Reddit. It just wasn't holding my interest like it used to. I was a Reddit user from summer '07 until June 11th, 2023, but the switch to the fediverse was easy. I've really enjoyed the last few days here.
