Apparently the average cost is $233,610. If you save all of that and assume that the child is 18 when the parent is 45, then there's another 20 years til 65, which is enough to more than double. So $500,000+ extra at retirement per child, or about $20k spending per year (if you can delay in-home care for 10 years and use higher estimates, its as much as 45K/year extra). Apparently average cost of in-home care is $60k/year. So not having 2 children and saving all of the difference could make-up for that.

Not exactly common sentiments either: out of 100s of comments, those are the only two I've seen along those lines. No clue where they were and I'd they may have been removed by mods, making them harder to find (but mod logs do exist), so unfortunately I can't link to them.

Either way, Hamas did kill civilians, including babies (pretty sure there was one that was shot in addition to the two burned), which is terrible and in no way should they be given any sort of pass just because Israel has previously committed acts of violence. But its still fair to call out fabricated news meant to push for mass killings of civilians, including children and babies.

I think you would need to specify "the idea that there are biological races" for that to even remotely work and calling yourself white doesn't imply you believe in biological races. Like someone saying they don't worry as much about cops pulling them over because they're a white (male driving a truck through rural Texas), for example, is talking about the social construct of race and how that influences their normal interactions compared to their darker skinned pears in a way that criticizes racism rather than reinforces it.

The most vocal homophobes probably aren't mostly a 0 on the Kinsey scale even if they're heterosexual given 0s probably are not the majority. Especially the kind who act like it's something that's okay if you hide it or think you can just turn it off, as described in OP's case.

Calling a 1 "gay" is obviously misleading, but from the perspective of many homophobes those occasional thoughts are problematic.

Kinda surprised by my stepmom being more trans-friendly than my mom. Like my stepmom is more overtly racist. Both of them are lesbians so no issues with homophobia at least.

I don't see what free speech has to do with that. Freedom of speech and association are a thing for all parties.
