Eggs are 10.99 in denver.
  • Even worse when you consider this is without tax and the compareisons are made to prices without tax. To be fair the rest of the world doesn't threat their eggs so they need to be refrigerated like these US eggs need to be, which also costs money.

  • Not in my backyard
  • The only issue I have with this is that this fules the generalisation of politics even more. There is a lot more of a nuance in politics than just left/right or conservatives/liberals etc. You see this more in countries with more politics parties. It’s not an either or but a spectrum.

But this meme really suits the current climate of Shitter and the US politic system

  • Proton Mail says it’s “politically neutral” while praising Republican Party
  • There is still no proof that they aren’t complying with their own privacy standerds. Just because the CEO is a dick doesn’t mean the entire company has to be a dick. If everything is properly arranged the CEO shouldn’t even be arranged to push things that go against the believes and statements of the company in the situation of an European company with the structure of Proton.

Currently I am unable to switch anyway due to time restrains and such, so I am just gonna see if we hear anything about the next audit regarding privacy.

  • “one year only then full price”

You can say what you want, but this is mostly the norm with subscriptions. Not only that but legally they can often index the price as well. I haven't seen a single subscription in Europe that keeps Grandfathering prices with the exception of Old School Runescape where people claim it.I haven't verified it

  • This is where audits come into place. Currently Proton only made the result of their security audit public, but you can also get an accounting firm to audit the privacy statement. Not endorsing them or anything, but PureVPN has been audited by iirc Deloitte on their privacy statement. I have verified this a couple year by then sharing the conclusion of the report from Deloitte with signature.

Proton should do something similar and yearly and could have a lot more faith in them. An accountant isn't going to risk his career for something like Proton's privacy statement. At least I would hope not

  • Proton Mail says it’s “politically neutral” while praising Republican Party
  • It does make sense that a country located in Switzerland has this type of being "neutral", it's seems very similar to what the country was doing in WW1 and WW2.

Anyway, I'll be keeping my Proton account. It works pretty well and I have more faith in the laws in Switzerland than in the EU. Saying that I still have more faith in the EU than the rest of the world if it comes to privacy. If anything changes in the future I'll be moved in about an hour or two.

  • NVIDIA has removed “Hot Spot” sensor data from GeForce RTX 50 GPUs
  • Yeah NVIDIA is a bullshit company and has been for a while. AMD and Intel need to get their raytracing game up so they become a real competitor for NVIDIA especially now when there are more games that require raytracing.

  • What app is so useful, you can’t believe it’s free?
  • You can buy office separately these days again. Not sure if Libreoffice is feature complete these days, but last time I tried it, it was missing a lot of the more advanced featureslike Solver/Powerquery/certain advanced formulas.

I recommend it for everybody and if it is not for you, you wil realise it in a couple of minutes of working with it if you are a oower user

  • USA comparison
  • I feel like it depends on your translation and how you define “free”.

I like to compare it to the differences between expenses and costs. Which is something people often confuse. Expenses are talking about the outflow of money and costs are talking about the effect of it on the bottom line.

“Free” education is free, because it’s not an expense it can be considered and indirect cost. It might never be something that is paid if you never pay taxes for whatever reason.

People also consider their social security income free because they don’t need to do more for it than filling in a form often online

  • In clown country it's bad when prisons aren't full.
  • It depends a bit on the country and type of business.

But yeah private companies can be cheaper and more efficient because the people in charge actually benefit from it. There is often less shit to deal with in the form of bureaucracy.

On the other hand (and this is generally where angelosaxton business culture takes over), this does push for more and more profit since people always want more every year. Everybody likes their yearly wage increase.

In the case of prisons in the US there is a twofold issue, on one hand it’s privatised, but in the other hand there aren’t laws preventing people from doing this bullshit.
