My disdain for mega banks knowns no end
  • My old man was like this. It always felt awkward though because he made more money than a lot of my classmate's parents combined but it didn't show because he spent it so quickly. We rationalize it a lot by thinking about how he grew up in extreme poverty. That said, he stroked out when I was a teenager and there was nothing to fall back on afterwards.

  • It's not all that broad. And I look forward to their indignance.
  • Says the dude actively using twitter. GTFOO of twitter people.

Centralization sucks. I know a lot of people who are currently dropping BlueSky and migrating back to Twitter because it was just too much of a loss for them unfortunately.

  • Oh Joe...
  • Biden was was talking like someone with the grogginess just getting woken up in the middle of the night then smoking a joint right before coming on. (i.e. We’re fucked either way.)

As someone who doesn't like giving Biden free passes just because he's not Trump, I feel like I haven't seen anyone mentioning the time limit set for responses during the debate. It clearly was not in his favor. Trump can talk your ear off about any nonsense he can dream of at a moments notice.

Biden has always had to take time to think. Look at his speeches, look at the times he responds to reporters. There's always pauses and gaps between responses where he has to think.

  • Ironing
  • I like ironing my clothes though and if you show up to a formal family event with a shirt that looks like you rolled around in it, then I will offer to iron for you before the next time.

  • 10/10 kids books.
  • I started the series as a teenager and I'm not going to stop just because I'm older now.

That said I was also reading my parent's books when I was younger too. I grew up on Dan Brown and Clive Cussler just as much as I grew up on Rick Riordan and Anthony Horowitz. I feel like my taste in books has only devolved as I've gotten older if anything.

  • Does anything truly get better than moving soldiers around on a little map?
  • invaded by hordes of tribes at the same time.

Too much treachery. Maybe if they stopped assassinating their rulers and managed their funds better by continuing to properly fund their military and continuing to pay off the tribes they could've lasted a bit longer.

It's so wild that they survived the Year of the 4 (and 5 and 6) Emperors when you think about it. The entire empire nearly collapses in the third century and what do they do to the man responsible for restoring it? They assassinate him. Or if it's not the emperor then it's the head of the military who had been responsible for holding off multiple tribes, negotiating with them and attempting to keep the city of Rome from being ransacked (unsuccessfully). And then you assassinate the emperor responsible and then the new emperor decides to provoke the biggest tribe of them all.

  • Stonehenge sprayed with paint by environmental protesters
  • Just be skeptical about it from both perspectives.

Bad actors do exist but they're not to blame for everything despite almost any organization or movement these days attempting to scapegoat any poor publicity they experience as bad actors.

  • Any day now Joe, c'mon man!
  • Why is Lemmy like this? This is half of what I see whenever I see people criticizing Joey B on here.

Why can't people dislike and vote against Trump while also wanting to hold Biden accountable for his words/actions?

I see such a large majority of people who vote Dem/have blue/left values on here and I seriously doubt posts like these are going to change their minds. People just want to vent their frustrations with what many consider the only option they have.

  • YouTube's next move might make it virtually impossible to block ads
  • I see. I simply ask because the platform has changed a lot if you used it a little over a decade ago and I know some people who never got over the transition.

Absolutely understandable that you don't want to spend time looking for anything that might catch your interest though.

  • YouTube's next move might make it virtually impossible to block ads
  • Its literally the lowest form of entertainment and its not worth a single moment of ad watching.

I'm just curious, but what type of content would you be watching on YouTube?

I think the platform has come a long ways when it comes to content. Sure, if you're just watching gaming content I'd say you'd be disappointed. It's been like that for a decade now at least. There's a lot of decent content on there though with a lot of it even being somewhat educational.

  • There are few things fascists hate as much as antifascist coalitions
  • He supports a ceasefire only if his Israeli overlords accept it. He won't attempt to use any leverage such as our munitions supply to Israel to attempt to force it though.

Still far better than the orange man who would outright assist Israel with exterminating Palestine.

  • Justice Alito Caught on Tape Discussing How Battle for America 'Can't Be Compromised'
  • He's surprisingly right, even if he is part of the problem.

The current political climate in this country can't last into the long-term future. I dislike the idea of conflict but many of the current right's ideals simply cannot coexist with those outside of their cult. The right has also been more aggressive about dismantling the country in several areas as a means of takeover. They really do see this as a battle or a war.

  • EVs Could Last Nearly Forever—If Car Companies Let Them
  • If this was law, and companies had to divulge how there stuff worked and was assembled, as well as sell parts, things would last longer.

I'm all for it but I think you're being a bit too optimistic. If we had the right to repair then the prices of repair kits and materials is going to go up most likely. I can think of a few other ways they can make that system obnoxious too.

It's like everything else. Yeah, the general systems in place could be greatly improved but ultimately the majority of the issues lie with the people at the top who refuse to let us have good things. No matter what laws are passed they will find a way to profit at any cost. The shareholders behind massive corporations are the first priority because no solution we create will work as efficiently as it can unless they are out of the picture.

  • 49% of independents, 15% of Republicans think Trump should end campaign: poll
  • They could have potentially run DeSantis, he just lacked the party's backing. While he's basically a younger, less orangey Trump for the most part, the fact that he's a lot younger would have probably won a lot of people over. It wouldn't change the GOP from being the MAGA party or change their current values or the general situation with the election though.

We should be grateful that Trump is rather incompetent. He's torn up the GOP as he can't allow anyone to overtake him in the hierarchy he's created. His own ego ensures that any competent ideas that could push his agenda forward are thrown out.
