  • I’ve realized it’s just the colors I don’t like.

Yeah, I think it suffers from the same issue that I had with the New Paradigm Daleks - the colours make it look very plasticy.

If the blue bits had more of a brushed metal appearance, I think it would look a lot better.

  • I have to admit, I don't envision this thing flying off the shelves.

The detailing is pretty cool, though - it's a shame that hasn't really come through on-screen yet.

  • We finally have a name!

According to provincial companies office and land titles documents obtained by CBC News on Tuesday, Kelly Vasas is the sole director of a numbered Manitoba company that owns 285 College Ave., where the evictions took place.

  • Of course, his presence there would have basically made the whole season pointless

I think that's probably why they tucked him into season two instead. I'm guessing they wanted him to appear in a way that wouldn't break the story, and that was easier to do in the time travel caper.

You're right, though - it was a big missed opportunity to reunite him with the cast, and even the set, of the old show.

  • Well, that's embarassing. I'm a little surprised they don't just disqualify the team and get on with it.

  • I don't know when it will actually be released, but I think the Lemmy devs are actively working on a post-tagging system. Once it's in place, we will probably figure out how it might best be used in our communities.

  • An added benefit of posting comics stuff to c/startrek is that those posts automatically receive a #startrek hashtag on Mastodon (some restrictions apply), so there's a higher chance to get engagement from that platform.

  • I have to agree - the show was pretty gorgeous during the Chibnall era, despite the reportedly smaller budget.

  • I will admit that RTD's admission that Disney has provided story notes was a bit of a surprise, but I haven't seen much cause for concern overall.

And if the deal ends after two seasons, as some have been speculating...the show will endure.

  • The hand-wringing over the Disney distribution deal has been fascinating to watch...

  • The image is hosted on imgur - could your instance be blocking it somehow?

  • We ran a regular comics discussion for a while, but there wasn't a lot of engagement at the time.

My personal feeling is that I'd like to see more comics and Treklit discussion on c/startrek before splintering anything off into its own community, but I'm also very interested to hear what others think!

  • I think it goes without saying - or it should - that watching it through official channels is better for the longevity of the show, if that's an option where you live.

not sure why they’re dropping the ball on this one.

My best guess is that the season 1 ratings on the CTV Sci-Fi channel weren't great, and despite being a massive media conglomerate, they don't really have a "kids' channel" to put it on instead.

  • There has been no official announcement regarding the launch of season 2 of Prodigy in Canada on CTV or any other platform, including Netflix and Paramount+.

This isn't entirely true. Prodigy-related news releases on startrek.com used to say that the series would be available on CTV.ca and the CTV app - that language disappeared around June.

At this point, I think CTV simply isn't going to release it, despite being the sole license holder

  • The images in question appear to use rudimentary image editing to reference older games in the IP’s catalogue, namely Star Trek: Armada, Star Trek: Invasion, and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine: Dominion Wars, along with a series of numbers that would suggest a spelled-out message.

Players on Twitter and on Reddit have been working to break these ciphers and have come to the conclusion that these are teasing a new ship bundle that packs in spacecraft from older games: Two particularly sleuthy Redditors have worked out the word “bundle” from the numbers strings, with some of the more popularly held assumptions being that STO will be getting the Premonition, Typhon and Achilles.

  • For some reason, I've been mentally giving all the credit/blame to Murray Gold, but of course RTD would have done the lyrics.

There is one bit that lives rent-free in my head - it works surprisingly well as long as you remember that poor Ruby is improvising:

    It's good to meet you

    Good to greet you

    Good to say

    How diddly-deet you

  • Yeah, I think I'm right there with you - I didn't even notice the structural wonkiness until this most recent rewatch. The episode's a hoot.

  • I love/hate it when I get bumped by stupid stuff like that.

I'm also a "yea" - the one thing that bumped me was Ruby joining in so readily. My first assumption was that it was the magic at work, but then I remembered that they sort of introduced her musical talent during the pub scene. I don't think we saw quite enough to ascertain how talented she was, though.

  • I felt like I was talking to myself last week, and I don't actually have to be online to do that, so rather than type out my full thoughts on this one, I'll aim for controversy.

The Goblin Song: yea or nay?
