Canada's international student spike was blamed on private colleges. Here's what really happened

  • Yeah, I'm struggling to imagine what the ship could be. Federation/Dominion maybe?

  • Looks like we're finally getting Captain Dax and the Aventine - their absence was notable in the Gamma expansion.

  • To note in passing new life and new civilizations...

  • Tuvix vs. the Swingin' Fontaine Brothers? I don't get it.

  • I heard only last night about a script that is being written, but written specifically with the actor, Patrick [Stewart], to play in it. And I’ve been told to expect to receive it within a week or so.

Notably, that week was several weeks ago:

TrekMovie has confirmed with Josh Horowitz that this interview was recorded in early November as Stewart was out promoting his new memoir, Making It So.

  • new instance mascot just dropped

  • Yes - our current approach is to wait ~2 weeks following a release, in case their are any significant bugs.

In the case of v. 0.19, it appears there have been some significant federation-related bugs, so the wait might be a little longer while we see how it all shakes out.

  • Perhaps this could be a return to the Khitomer Alliance ships?

Also, I was recently thinking about the fact that there are no Dominion Alliance ships...

  • I'm terrible at speculating, but the latest story arc leaning so hard into multiversal "beta canon" material means the possibilities are endless.

The Aetherians seem sketchy as hell, but maybe I've just seen too many "too good to be true" stories.

As for the freebie ship...I'd like to see something pulled from the recent shows, but I'm hard-pressed to think of something that hasn't appeared in the game already.

  • At what point would you move from the old stuff to the new stuff to keep someone from being too confused?

I don't think confusion is a big concern - if she has some basic familiarity with the franchise, it shouldn't take much more than explaining when the series is set. Beyond that, each show should stand on its own.

The only possible exception to this is "Picard," which is the most reliant on a previous series, but even then, the show should give the viewer enough information to watch it on its own terms.

  • I'm afraid I'm going to have to report this latest comment to the Ministry of Climate Collapse and Also the Economy Even Though Climate Collapse Is the Only Thing That Should Be On Everyone’s Minds.

  • Just in case the site gets wiped or something...

    5x01 "Red Directive"

    5x02 "Under the Twin Moons"

    5x03 "Jinaal"

    5x04 "Face the Strange"

    5x05 "Mirrors"

    5x06 "Whistlespeak"

    5x07 "Erigah"

    5x08 "Labyrinths"

    5x09 "Lagrange Point"

    5x10 "Life, Itself"

  • I'm not going to speculate as to her precise identity, but if we take everything the episode showed us at face value:

    • She knows what a TARDIS is.
    • She did not recognize the Doctor's police box as a TARDIS until he dematerialized it in front of her, and even then did not seem to know who the Doctor was.

Again, if we are to take all this at face value, I think that narrows the list of candidates significantly, and rules out most, if not all, "familiar" characters.

Could she be a former companion of a pre-Hartnell Doctor? I know the Fugitive Doctor's TARDIS appeared as a police box to Thirteen, but it's very possible the chameleon circuit was operational in those days.

  • Good point - all things the CBC is solely responsible for.

However, I'm forced to award you 50 000 demerits for taking time away from fixing the climate and economy to write that comment. Do better.
