  • we saw Wesely grow dilithium as part of a high school science project.

Wow, what a significant development - which episode was that?

  • Yep, he's doing three specials as the 14th Doctor before Ncuti Gatwa takes over as 15 in January.

  • Some of the rules are not particularly clear, and some are outright missing. Basically things would come up, and I would have to patch in a rule based on what I felt made the most sense in the moment.

I once bought a "Lost" board game that seemed a lot like a twist on Catan, except the rules were so unclear I never did actually play it. Must be a licensed game thing.

  • Well, that's where I think their plan falls apart a bit. My interpretation was always that they were going to try to stay in the wormhole, effectively removing themselves from the timestream - hence the episode title "Perpetual Infinity". I don't have access to episode transcripts right now, but Memory Alpha seems to support this:

Burnham speculates that perhaps instead of fighting against time, they flow with it, and try to merge the Sphere into the "river of time" itself – sending it so far into the future that it would not be able to harm them. Stamets' examination of the Red Angel's suit has revealed it has almost infinite data storage, which Pike takes to mean that they would input the Sphere archive into the suit, program a destination beyond Gabrielle's anchor point, and let the micro-wormhole take it away forever. "Perpetual infinity", Stamets confirms; Control will not be able to get the data, ever.

However, I think there are multiple ways to interpret the scene, and I think the last couple of episodes of the season are pretty sloppy in that regard.

  • Except Control was already destroyed before they went through the Singularity!

They didn't know that for sure, and the debriefings with Pike, Spock, and the gang at the end establish that they took some time afterward to confirm that Control had been completely eliminated.

  • It was still unknown whether it was Stafleet

In what way was it unknown? Sloan had the active support of Starfleet command, access to at least one starship, and full authority to do whatever he wanted. None of this is ambiguous, and is in fact directly stated.

  • its existence as a starfleet element was blurry.

The very first S31 episode had Starfleet Command actively stonewalling Sisko's inquiries, and Kira openly calling it a cover-up, so no, I don't think its status as part of Starfleet was ever under serious question.

  • That's an awfully roundabout way of saying you're spouting made-up bullshit.

  • The bulk of "The Menagerie" was Marc Daniels, but obviously the footage from "The Cage" was Butler's.

  • Before even that it’s shown them in considerable anguish to come out to their boyfriend even.

Cool! Do you have any examples from scenes that actually happened?

  • I think single-issue elections are a myth, but there's no doubt that that's top-of-mind for a lot of people right now.

  • Yeah, you're not going to catch me defending the current regime's overall track record.

  • Multiple elections have established that people do care. As the article points out, every federal election since 2008 (whoops, except 2011) has been won by a party that either promised a carbon tax, or had already implemented one.

  • Each community has the power to restrict the languages used in that community.

I can't speak to the effectiveness of the system, as I don't really spend time in non-English communities, but it's certainly a poorly-documented feature.

  • I don't think I've ever heard of that being relevant to streaming shows.

Since the only country in which LD airs on tv is Canada, and it streams there as well, I doubt it's a factor.

  • Of all the new series, Lower Decks has been perhaps the most consistent - seasons 1-3 premiered in August, while season four premiered in early September.

This pattern may or may not hold.

  • It ensures that people who can't read your post (that is, they have that language deselected in their own account settings) won't see it.
