Pierre Poilievre’s Lead Was Supposed to Be Unshakable. It Isn’t | The Walrus
  • Yeah just saw my first PP ad during the hockey game. He used the word "woke" and showed scary urban violence and homelessness. This is going to resonate with Canadians who watch Fox News. I wish that crap was illegal to show. Had some good friends that I cannot even talk to anymore.

  • Should Canada Be Ready to Switch Sides?
  • Trade with? Sure, we already do that. Align with? Those guys don't "align". You are not a friend. You're either under their control or you're their enemy. Yes, the US is headed towards fascism but ideologically we essentially believe the same things. That's why this situation is so hard to understand.

You're not going to like what "switching sides" means. We'll need to be on guard and at best weather this out. Maybe line up some more trade and travel deals with the EU. But inviting China or Russia, or joining BRICS, no way.

  • Can we still be friends: Alaska town sends love letter to neighbours in Yukon
  • I wonder how most of Alaska voted, especially those in Haines. It's a nice platitude, but if it's what they voted for, it doesn't sound like enough of an apology. It's more of a "please don't be too mad at us" type of note. Elections matter. Feeling bad because the entire country is trying to buy Canadian and booing the American national anthem is one thing, but unless they act in a way that shows they are going to do something concrete about it, it's a useless gesture at this point.
