Games on Whales - Stream multiple desktops and games from a single host
  • Excellent work! I am glad to see this project coming along nicely.

I tested it a while back and was looking forward to updates. I have a few questions:

Is each "game entry" in moonlight a shared instance? If a player loaded it up, would they share save files with others that have already played? Also what would happen if two players loaded the app at the same time?

How would I go about making a generic linux desktop from a given Linux distro?

  • What features would you want in a decentralized gaming platform similar to Steam?
  • If you want to stream games there is a GitHub user called Games-on-whales. He has two docker programs that are effectively a game streaming server capable of serving multiple users.

It's not fully developed yet and I encountered a few issues while testing it, but it was very quick and easy to setup.

  • Releasing Wolf: Stream virtual desktops and games running in Docker
  • That's great to hear. This might be the holy grail of game streaming server setups. I could build one strong server with one gpu and have it serve an arbitrary number of clients. Since they are all effectively Linux desktops, they should have a wide range of compatibility via WINE and emulators.

I did some more research and came up with another question: Does Vulkan work on AMD GPUs?
