  • This package treatment usually isn't malice; the automated package sorting drops packages from one belt to another and the longest drop can be up to 12 feet (4 meters).

Always assume your package will experience such a drop when you're packing it.

  • exhausting
  • I had some struggles with consciousness persisting until I learned about the cognitive shuffle technique.

So if this is you, look up cognitive shuffling. Doesn't work for everybody but worth a try.

  • looking forward to the comments
  • This always attracts pedants whining "the creator said to pronounce it like jif!" and it's like, OK, A) That's an appeal to authority, one of the best known logical fallacies B) The creator of Mother's Day spent over 30 years trying to get people to stop celebrating it, but too bad, I'm still gonna wish my Mom a happy Mother's Day, you know?

  • Why the fuck do cars still have analog speedometers? Surely digital ones would be more accurate and much easier to read without looking away from the road for too long.
  • This is partly true, but regulations do allow for a computer screen digital version of the basic safety display, as long as it can be demonstrated to be reliable and work without other systems like the infotainment system, and many manufacturers have implemented this.

IMO I think the answer to the OP is "it was a stylistic choice"

MangoPi RISC-V router will support dual GbE, dual USB 2.0, CAN bus, RS485, and more
  • Interesting, the tiny size (5cm x 5cm) and FPC connector for capacitive touch screen make me think of a portable hotspot, but there's no wireless. The support for CAN 2.0 and RS485 make me wonder if that SoC was originally designed in the automotive or aeronautic business.

  • Milk-V Pioneer (MicroATX, 64 cores) now accepting orders

There's now a microATX motherboard and workstation for native RISC-V development based on the SOPHON SG2042 64-core RISC-V C920 processor with up to 128GB

64-core RISC-V motherboard and workstation enable native RISC-V development (Crowdfunding) - CNX Software

$1199 for the board with chip+heatsink, or $1999 for a complete assembled system. Delivery by Christmas 2023.

I don't know, it's great to see the form factor, but I don't think twice the price of the HiFive Unmatched for 64 T-Head C920 cores (about RaspBi 3B+ level with RVV 0.71 draft extension) glued together is worth it.

I'll keep watching for Horse Creek and whatever Ventana Micro Systems are doing.

    What do you all think?
