Breaking Bad
I've had to explain tariffs a lot lately...
I deleted my account a long time ago but still visit on old.reddit. When they get rid of support for old.reddit I will finally just no longer visit because the modern formatting is completely non-navigable
I'm terrified that I smell bad and nobody is telling me.
One of my favorites, I always recommend to friends who want something spooky but not outright horror
My mom's husband literally did this. He was wearing a "Trump 2024" hat all through Biden's administration. Then Trump took office and after a month he stopped wearing it and started wearing his second amendment hat and won't make eye contact with me anymore.
He did none of those things.
Lmao, "all over it"
Tesla and SpaceX both have entire teams of people dedicated to making sure Musk has as little impact on the companies as possible because he's such a fuckin' buffoon. Take a look at Twitter, the company he bought and wasn't prepared to keep him off the reins. It absolutely shit tanked. Same thing with his time at PayPal. Everything he touches turns to absolute shit. The only things he has that are successful, Tesla and SpaceX, are successful literally actually because the people in those companies that do the real work male sure he can't fuck it up.
The piece of Tesla he's had the most impact on is the Cybertruck and its universally hailed as an absolute and utter failure. Put your tongue away, Musk ain't gonna share his money with you dude.
Doesn't appear to be on my phone or in the Google play store
Nah, more like "we already heard your arguments at the golf club. No reason to listen again, we're already going to rule in your favor."
I can't remember the name. I'll try to find it when I'm next on shift.
They forced the company to switch from a merit system to a scheduled raise, so now everyone gets the same low raise regularly, instead of anyone having an opportunity to earn a higher raise by being good at the job. They forced us to separate out sick leave vs pto, when before it was just one large pool. Now we have much less time off in total. Then they forced in a specific discipline policy requiring several steps and legalese loopholes which forces us to keep bad actor employees for months and months when before we could just fire them. Overall quality of service is way down, the workload has dramatically shifted so that there are now freeloaders and then employees who have to take up the slack. Morale is down, all our quality employees are burning out and quitting. It's a fuckin mess.
Hey! I work for a suicide line!
This is 100% accurate! Debt relief, housing, and just generally human beings not having to sacrifice their minds and bodies for basic necessities would cut down the suicide rate by tons!
The Union at my job actively and intentionally made shit way worse, like, hilariously so.
Now I want to do some kind of experiment where I speak things into my phone and see what happens. It still seems too much to be coincidental.
Yes, this is the common statement I am referencing.
How many anecdotal stories before it becomes data? If hundreds of people are saying that this happens and there's no other explanation? Thousands? How many things can be written off as "Oh, something you don't understand is happening, even if we can rule out basically everything." ?
As I said in the original post, the client was contacted by someone over social media about moving to the Phillipines for work. It turned out to be a scam. Nobody else I interacted with made any mention of the Phillipines to me.
I once worked in a charity providing mental health services to people without insurance, or who wanted to not have their insurance record the service for whatever reasons.
I once had a homeless man that I would see regularly. We set up each appointment at the end of the preceding appointment, because the only other way to get a hold of this person would be to call the fast food place he worked at, during his work hours, which weren't consistent. This man did not own a phone, or any other electronic device. His facebook, and all of his online activity was done at his local library. I emphasize this because I need it to be stressed that there was no way any algorithm could connect his location to mine. There was no way for a system to recognize that his device was near mine, because he did not have a device. There was no way for any of his online habits to be algorithmically connected to mine, at all.
One session, we're speaking. The only devices in our small, sound proofed room, were my cell phone, a digital clock not connected to any system, and a digital camera, turned off, and also not connected to any system. He mentions that he's been contacted by someone who wants him to move to the Phillipines. We briefly discuss flights and work in the Phillipines. Then we move on to other things, yadda yadda, end session.
By the end of the day, I'm getting ads on Facebook for flights to the Phillipines. Freaked me the fuck out because those sessions are HIPAA protected. From then on I kept my phone turned off, and in a completely different room in our building than any of my sessions with any patient. Never ever had it happen again.
Two immediately come to mind.
First is "Comfortable". I pronounce each part of the word: "COME-for-tuh-bull". Many people give me weird looks and insist on "Comf-turr-bull".
The other is more niche and has to do with League of Legends.
There is a champion whose theme is moonlight. His backstory is that he belongs to a moon cult who opposes a group that is am Order of the Sun type group. This character is an edgelord whose whole thing is darkness and midnight etc etc.
His name is a combination of the Greek "Ap" meaning "furthest from" and "Helios" meaning the sun. His name is Greek for "the one furthest from the sun" in this moon cult.
In Greek, "ph" does not make the "fuh" sound. His name should rightly be pronounced "App-Hee-lee-ose"
But all the casters and developers call him "Uhh-fell-ee-ose" and it drives me absolutely insane.
Am I reading the right article? I read the entire wiki article linked above and, quite honestly, the part you've quoted here is the only piece that even approaches being gruesome, and is very medically sanitized. What are people referring to when they say that the descriptions made them want to vomit and all this stuff?
