It could also have been just that - an old joke that everyone liked responding with when they had the chance.

I will die on the hill that "y'all" is a more concise way to convey the same information than any of the alternatives.

I'm glad the "not worth engaging with" attitude is dying out, but I do still think it's important to push for people to communicate accurately and effectively, which includes understanding and following grammatical rules when needed.

Language and vocabulary are essential to how we think and collectively problem-solve.

Lol, we do both post a ton and love Star Trek, but I promise we're different people. The thought of trying to double my contribution to Lemmy as one person sounds daunting.

I can't speak for Stamets, but I source most of my stuff from other sites like Twitter or Tumblr. I don't like using reddit out of principle, but I know a lot of their stuff gets circulated elsewhere, and I have taken from some "best of" reddit content when trying to help jump-start some small niche communities here.

I also make a bunch of memes now when I get the chance, mostly for Risa lately, but also for a handful of other communities I really like.
