  • Get Inside! Fast!
  • I am not seeing an image? Maybe you could make a render and post it at @RimWorldPorn

  • I Finally Beat the Archonexus!
  • I'm ready to embark on the 3rd part, trying to find a fun way. So, about that early wealth drop?

  • The RimWorldPorn Kbin instance is now active!
  • You mean the RimWorldPorn? Lemmy wasn't as suitable for making an alternative for RWP as Kbin is. This is an actual Kbin instance focused on RimWorldPorn & Rimworld in general, the one on Lemmy was a test community, not an entire server! The RimWorld one works fine though and is also available on rimworldporn.cloud!

  • **Avoid removal, read the rules!**

    Avoid removal, read the rules! Please be gentle, Kbin is in a very early development stage

    Making renders To make a hi-res jpg render, you can use the progress renderer mod steam / Github. This mod will automatically make renders, and by pressing 9 you can make one on demand, which will be in the manually folder. Note: zooming out too far will cause colonists not to be rendered.

    Making the render suitable for posting:

    Once you have the mod working, you can change its settings (like scaling) via options, mod settings. Click here for tips. Make sure you get this right, pictures with low resolution or quality will be removed. Check the quality section below for more info. Use .jpg, other formats will give too big files to post .

    Posting the image on rimworldporn.cloud:

    Make sure you're logged in, click the plus, add new photo, select your render, and enter a title and description and submit. If you like add a description and a modlist to the comments.

    If the file is too big to post on rimworldporn.cloud

    Notice: do not reduce resolution / crop to reduce file size unless there is no alternative. Make sure you are using a .JPG, other formats won't work. Open the image in paint.net (windows) or Gimp, and save it as a .jpg. Both programs give you the option to alter the quality and give you a preview of the filesize. Aim for 30MB.

    Colony Quality Any colony may be posted here. There is no such thing as a low quality colony. If you like your colony, so will we. Here's some tips for the renderer settings.

    Image quality Posted images have to be high resolution. Aim for a filesize of 30MB.

    Making a perfect render If you want your colony to really shine, follow the tips but set encoding to PNG and Pixels per cell to 40. Then open the PNG with an image editing program that can show you the file size when saving as a JPG, like paint.net or gimp. Staying below, Aim for 30MB. This should give you a very nice JPG to upload.

    Murder at the Roadside Motel
  • Nice to see you here as well!

  • Murder at the Roadside Motel
  • The corpse in in the trunk of the car. The murderer is in the room on the left, pretending to know nothing. The guy next to the car will see something suspicious and find the body soon. The mechanic having a beer at the table's wrench is covered with his fingerprint, so he will be prime suspect, especially because the victim is his mother in law. His father, also at the table, will also blame him, but he in fact staged this whole crime because the squirrel slept with his wife.

  • Rimworld tips and tricks
  • As I have over 7000 hours of Rimworld I thought it is only fair to write a quick guide so you can all make the same mistakes as I have. Because trust me, whenever I start a new game, those 1000s of hours of experience go straight out the window. So here's 10 easy steps for you.

    (abc = optional/alternative)

    1. Get the game

    2. Run the game. Let the fun begin

    2b. Get a load of incompatible mods and spend hours trying to get the game to load, or even actually start

    2c. Use the scenario editor to prepare a game, using anything but the the default settings

    3. Start a new game, (optionally using the scenario you just made), pick any storyteller/difficulty.

    4a. Pick a spot on the map that looks visually appealing or just hit random, or;

    4b. Spend hours looking for the perfect tile, trying different map seeds

    5. Create some colonists by clicking random buttons until you think, "yeah, this isn't going to work", or;

    5b. Spend half an hour tweaking your starting colonists until they form a perfect ensemble for losing the game like a boss

    6. Wait for the game to start, depending on how many mods you use, from 30 seconds to 3 hours.

    7a. Turn on dev mode if you want to be, or are, a dev

    7b. Turn on god mode if you are a god

    8. Start clicking like a maniac on all the buttons, colonist, animals. Pick any game-speed, pause whenever you feel like it

    9a. Follow the tutorial, or;

    9b. disable the tutorial

    10. Watch total chaos unfold when bad things start happening. Watch your colony burn to the ground. Say "Oh well, better luck next time."

    10b. Start over, or;

    10c. Savescum to try again, or;

    10c. Actually complete one of the ways to win the game and actually finish it. I have probably done this 5 times, out of the 100s of games I have started

    There is no right way of playing Rimworld. People saying "that's not the way Rimworld is meant to be played" do not know what they are talking about.
