List of subs people may find familiar
  • Thank you for this list!

  • YouTube Music podcast is finally rolling out to more countries
  • What do apps like this have when there are open-source alternatives like AntennaPod? I saw the article mentions being able to play videos too?

  • Samsung’s new 98-inch 8K TV is the projector-beating home theater upgrade I’ve been waiting for
  • the GPU required to run a game at that at anything but minimum settings

Sounds great for running older games at stupidly high resolutions lol

  • What's the deal with sh.reddit?
  • For me that UI style kept appearing for me while signed out. The dedicated subdomain is news to me.

Edit: It is a read-only experience. If you try to reply or vote, you'll be asked to sign in even if you are already.

  • How come there is very little Kbin SEO for individual posts? Also, what are tags/badges?
  • As far as I am aware, Badges are intended to be similar to reddit's post flair system? They don't seem to do anything at the moment though.
Community moderators can set up badges but even with those in place you can't see them when making a post.

  • Deleting a post - is it generally broken or am I just unlucky?
  • By default that's what ActivityPub does, but instance administrators can configure their servers to handle deletions differently or not at all.

  • It's official: Smartphones will need to have replaceable batteries by 2027
  • There are devices like Samsung's Xcover products that have the back cover snap into place in a way that creates a water-proof seal around the battery and components inside. It's incredibly tight and has a rubber ring.

  • Is there a way to derank certain magazines on user side? Something between full blocking and full allowing a magazine?
  • If there is something that I can complement Reddit for, it's that the frontpage shows one or two hot posts from each of the subreddits you are subscribed to, instead of showing several from those that are more active than the quieter ones like what kbin does now.

  • This spammer created multiple accounts on various Lemmy instances to post self advertisements. How do we combat this?
  • Hopefully several instance owners collaborate on a shared blocklist that will help combat this kind of spam and implement that back into their instances.

Lemmy at least does have a slur filter in place to block certain words that could be expanded to block spam like this. I don't know if kbin has something like that or not.

  • Instagram’s Threads surpasses 100 million users
  • It would be great to see how many of those users have actually stayed after using it one time.

Rather than telling Reddit users to migrate, share links to Fediverse posts to drive them here
  • I wonder how long it'll take before Reddit starts shadowdeleting anything containing links to Fediverse websites?

What Reddit features do you *not* want kbin to have?
  • I understand not liking overzealous filters but I would like a feature to allow blacklisting words in magazines, otherwise you're going to get people shouting slurs at others and getting away with it until a moderator comes to clean it up.

  • What Reddit features do you *not* want kbin to have?
  • I can see that working well as long as awards don't affect the placement of comments and posts. Have it just show a icon next to the comment or post like a reaction.
If magazines can have custom award icons that'd add some charm to the feature.

  • 60% of subreddits are still dark! Reddit activity down 30%
  • Yes this is the way to do it. It includes everything on your account even if you've clicked Delete on it.

  • Apparently the Reddit AMA with Steve Huffman went about as well as it could go off the rails.
  • The box for commenting on a post should be at the bottom of the rest of the comments.

New to kbin but not to the Fediverse.
