How David Hogg’s Multimillion-Dollar Bid to Elect Young Dems Fared at the Polls
  • ‘Often impulsive acts’

“Suicide attempts are often impulsive acts, driven by transient life crises,” the authors write. “Most attempts are not fatal, and most people who attempt suicide do not go on to die in a future suicide. Whether a suicide attempt is fatal depends heavily on the lethality of the method used — and firearms are extremely lethal. These facts focus attention on firearm access as a risk factor for suicide especially in the United States, which has a higher prevalence of civilian-owned firearms than any other country and one of the highest rates of suicide by firearm.”

That's literally stating that suicides by firearms are more successful...NOT that they cause people to commit suicide more.

I'll say it again, correlation doesn't equate causation.

It's not my problem you are incapable of understanding studies that have an agenda.

  • How David Hogg’s Multimillion-Dollar Bid to Elect Young Dems Fared at the Polls
  • No it doesn't, you're basically giving me the point that someone who can't swim is more likely to drown because they own a pool... that's the bullshit logic that is used. (If you didn't get that reference, the person is more likely to drown because they can't swim...not because they own a pool). There are millions of firearm owners in the USA, the fraction of a percent of those commit suicide. So no it's not what makes people more likely to commit suicide. I just explained that to you with Japan, which you will clearly ignore.

People don't magically become suicidal because a firearm is present. That's the most ignorant bullshit ever, and was cooked up from the anti-gun groups.

Correlation doesn't equal causation. Never has never will.

  • Men of Lemmy, how old were you when you found out that bra cup sizes are not standardized in the slightest?
  • Never been underwear shopping with the wife? I usually take my wife once a year. Think of it this way. A good bra is like a good pair of work boots. You get a shit pair and you're in pain every time you wear them. Bras are the same thing.

  • Has Fast Food Gotten Worse, or Am I Just Getting Old?
  • I miss $1 jumbo jacks that were the size of a whopper....and cheesy bean and rice burritos that had pico and creamy jalapeno sauce...also for $1...now it's like everything taste bland and is 1/2 the size for 3xs the money. It's really shit, about the only fast food I'll even consider these days is the hot and readys from little Caesars, but even those have dropped in quality.

  • Lemmings living in red states, how’re you doing?
  • These types of shotguns are jamfests, which is the last thing you want in a life or death situation.

Over penetration is going to happen no matter what you're shooting, drywall won't stop shit.

The reason I suggested an AR is you're going to have better target acquisition and the odds of actually hitting someone are greater than if you have a handgun or a huge shotgun.

    As always, practice practice practice.

  • ‘Mass deportations would disrupt the food chain’: Californians warn of ripple effect of Trump threat
  • They did, people do not want to work outside doing hard labor for what it should cost. The cost for your food is relatively cheap, because of cheap labor. This idea that farmers are rolling in money is a nice myth, but it's not true, the majority are living year to year trying to survive.
