I would not be for the removal of these points as the only option here.
If anything having a new option in the settings of the app to hide any up/down/vote counts seems like the only way to not make some people happy and others upset.
Let people choose.
I still think showing those numbers should be the default though.
I remember going to the bookstore and looking at a Nintendo Power magazine. The postcards they had in there for you to mail in and subscribe always had art or photos on them. And one of them had a small blurry photo of one of the dungeons in Zelda.
I yanked that postcard out and took it home with me to study the dungeon with a magnifying glass so I could beat it 😂
It's a bit of a bummer reading the reddit threads where some people are complaining about reddit alternatives not having millions of users. It's sort of self explanatory (I thought) that nothing is a drop-in replacement for reddit right now because everyone is still just using reddit. You gotta start somewhere...
