  • This has definitely been the case with me as well. Especially as I got older and had less time to play anything.

I've always been partial to story over mechanics though. I just think the preference has tilted much further in favor of story games now.

  • Trying to figure out why this post is so down voted.

I looked up the game and it was released 3 yrs ago.

It's recent but it's not new so it's not really incorrectly posted here vs a normal games community, right?

Is there some other info about this I don't know about?

Trying not to moderate too much here. And I haven't needed to really. Everyone's been great with posting great stuff here overall.

    Just was curious.

  • Wow that's an amazing run you've given that kindle! I used to have that one as well, years ago.

If you are sticking in the Amazon/Kindle world, then a new Kindle (whether you go with the base Kindle or the Paperwhite) you'll have a much faster experience for sure. The newer eink readers now can do several page turns without any real visual flash of the refresh. It's a small thing but very nice.

The Paperwhite has a backlight which is helpful for night reading. You'll also get dark mode in the new software (not sure if your keyboard kindle has stayed up to date with software updates or not). Also there's waterproofing.

The base kindle just loses the light and the waterproofing.

If you're not going to stick with Amazon, take a look at the Kobo readers. They're a great alternative to people not stuck in the Amazon world.

  • Yup! I see there's another Patient Gamers on another instance too:

    https://lemmy.ml/c/patientgamers@sh.itjust.works

I think when I start getting to the subscribing functionality in my summer lemmy app project I'll try and add some type of grouping.

Would be nice to have the multireddit type functionality to see a combined feed of communities with the same name that you follow on various instances.

  • With age, I am realizing that time is just as important a commodity as money, if not much more.

This is the biggest takeaway. Age really ups the value of your time.

For me getting older and having less free time killed me playing competitive online games. Is witched to games I could play solo and at my own pace.

When you only have an hour or two to play a few times (maybe) a week, you start to get good at honing in on what you actually enjoy playing.

  • I know I can link directly to a community on my local server with /c/community@instance

I didn't know that. I was hoping for a simile to the /r/subreddit thing. Didn't think of the fact that the @instance was needed. Makes sense now that I think about it.

Still getting my brain used to this new federated stuff...
