I just love Meat Loaf so much it's ridiculous
  • I've always heard great things, and i loved him in fight club, and more importantly Tenacious D; Pick of Destiny. I am looking forward to looking up this album, because i would describe my music interests as similar as yours.

  • Cheap, easy, nutritious, and filling soup to take to work every day?
  • They kind of do, but it really adds to it. Sort of like a corn dumpling almost. But it's best to just crumble them up and mix them in slowly from the top of the soup. Then only the bottom ones get soggy, and you get a little crunch left from what you pull off the top of the pile.

I personally started pressing my own tortillas recently, and they're a little thick and they turn into literally corn dumplings.

  • Cheap, easy, nutritious, and filling soup to take to work every day?
  • I second the taco soup. I call it tortilla soup and do it a little differently, as they stated. It is really simple and really quite delicious.

I make it with a whole chicken which is fairly cheap, in a slow cooker, hard to mess up. But just the other night i made it with some plain chicken breasts i picked up that day. Butterfly cut them seared them off and finished them in the soup.

Three or four cups of Chicken stock.

I omit the taco seasoning and just use healthy amount of cumin and a little chili powder. Salt (depending on salt content of chicken stock), pepper, garlic powder.

Cans of corn, black beans, garbanzo beans, roasted tomato.

I recently started sauteeing a heap of mushrooms chopped to bits and adding that too.

Finish with a squirt of lime, some cheese, and tortilla chips, or i sometimes crisp up some regular corn tortillas and cut them up in it.

Super simple, tasty. I personally can eat it throughout the week.

  • Does anyone else have favourite trees?
  • I cannot, for the life of me, get my picture to post of my favorite tree. I resized it as low grain as possible and cropped it, then screen shot it...still won't post. It is simply a birch tree, a great big mother in front of my cabin. Sadly when they relocated my driveway, they dug out a portion of her roots, and she is now dying. It's also not a great season to show off her girth and beauty. But i wanted to share, my literal favorite tree.

  • [Opera Aria] Placido Domingo - Ruggero Leoncavallo - Recitar!... Vesti la Giubba (Pagliacci)
  • Wow, that crescendo was very striking. Like a frozen spike grew right next to my spine. From 1:30 to 2:00 it started as a splinter and grew. Tragic.

Have you seen this movie? I'm curious.

  • “Conservatism” Conserves Nothing
  • I was taught its only in relation to spending. You can be a conservative democrat, if you believe in traditional democratic values but also believe we should spend money conservatively A liberal believes we should spend money liberally to achieve those results. It's like two spectrums overlayed. A graph of political identity.

Sure especially these days where everything is extremism in American politics it doesnt seem that way. Everything is right wing or left wing.

I remember when it was rude to talk about politics or religion. Everyone was allowed to believe what they want and still be friends with each other. Crazy.

Not taking a stance, just saying what i was taught at least. Times have changed since i was educated.

  • Tried to make Abed (Danny Pudi) in Fallout 4

Any Community fans out there? How did i do?

I spent way too long making his face, but i think it turned out pretty good. It was also a fun play through, role playing as Abed. Just really wish you could have at least like three vocal ranges you could pick.

    Primitive Technology: Downdraft Kiln
  • Bless you, you wonderful human being.

  • Sony raising PS Plus pricing by 33%
  • Yup just cancelled my subscription, once i followed the link to confirm from Playstation not heresy. And yeah what a way to announce it, douches.

I'm a long time Playstation fan, had every system.

    sigh

  • The Metal Gear Solid Collection is so true to Hideo Kojima's "original vision" that it needed a new content warning
  • I have such an issue supporting Konami after all that shit storm with Kojima. But I care too much for these games to not buy it.

I just re-played mgs1 on my ps1 a few months ago. Curious how they will do the mantis battle, and "turn to page 16 in the game manual for frequency number" type meta stuff.

I still just enjoy anything Kojima, and choose to support generally anything he has a hand in. So ultimately I don't feel too awful pre ordering this set. But still FucKonami.

  • baulders gayt
  • I've been waiting to see another soul speak up about that franchise. They are for sale on PSN still. I think for like $30 a piece because they know they're still great games.

I bought it so me and my girlfriend could play splitscreen (which no one seems to make anymore) and it was just as fun as I remember.

The sad thing is no real end of game content but that's how those old school games were. Get your character all bad ass and just how you want them, then roll credits.

I still think of that tavern song too, and the gruff sounding trader in the second game, with the long white hair and beard "Whatever you need, you can find, Right-Here." Something about the way he punches that "right-here" tickles me lol.

  • Opinion | Long covid has derailed my life. Make no mistake: It could yours, too.
  • That was crushing. "More than three years later, I still have long covid."

I'm on year two and was praying this ended with her getting her breath back. 😮‍💨

I used to work in construction, keep hoping the next week I'll be able to go back. Man that's disheartening.

  • What is up with Baldur's Gate 3?
  • Yeah I was teenager playing Baldurs Gate and 2 on PC. I only knew THAC0 because I was a D&D enthusiast and read my uncle's old books.

I'm still new to Beehaw not sure how y'all are clipping pieces of the conversation, and replying.

It seems like a big deal to me, but everyone has been saying the industry is moving to online only anyways. Like the new Diablo.

I read that BG3 is upwards of 150gigs and plenty of reasons and excuses for digital only. They can't fit it on one disc is the main one but still.

  • What is up with Baldur's Gate 3?
  • What's gog? I was hoping for it on PS5, don't have a powerful enough computer I imagine. Just a 10 year old laptop.

  • What is up with Baldur's Gate 3?
  • Yeesh, I'm a "Baldurs Gate Oldhead" XD man I'm getting old.

I could just cry at the fact that BG3 is download only. If they never release it hardcopy I will never be able to play it. Being out in the boonies. Even if they could just put what they can on a disc ya know?

Been looking for a good split screen to play with my gal, and yet what I'm sure is a masterpiece is out of reach.

There's also the Dark Alliance Oldheads, they don't need to be quite as old as me to have played those. Just replayed Dark Alliance II with my gal and it was well worth the heavy price tag for such an old title. Unlike the new Dark Alliance garbage. Which I bought to play split screen and it is not.

  • Can you still enjoy food without gluten?
  • Yeah it's been over a year dealing with it being bad and getting worse typically. A lot of other random problems that I've just associated with long rona. I can go and get checked out for relatively cheap i'm fairly certain. Key words checked out, after that who knows though. It's freaking me out kind of but it's a good idea I know. Thanks for freaking me out! Lol for real though, thank you.

  • Can you still enjoy food without gluten?
  • Thank you for your response. I have a friend with celiac but he doesn't cook much for himself, he sticks with pre packaged stuff. I always prefer fresh if possible. I feel like the main stick in my side is going to be trying to be gluten free while also lactose intolerant. I've adapted well to a fairly lactose free diet and just worry about even more being cut.

Good idea for searching for celiac friendly recipes, i was looking up "gluten free/lactose free" so I'm not exactly appalled i was getting vegan recipes. Doesn't seem like there's much left after taking those ingredients away! But that's negative, i can see you're right there are still plenty of things you can have. I'm gonna try to stay positive and take your advice.

  • Can you still enjoy food without gluten?
  • Thank you for the tip on pasta. This is a big deal for me because i just recently got into it, and I'd like to continue making my own. With my health in decline making pasta is kind of good workout sadly enough. I haven't made any other types, but can imagine a corn pasta being tasty enough. I'm a big fan of Asian cuisine, so maybe rice noodles could be another direction too. (Though to be honest i didn't realize until posting this that rice is gluten free)

  • Can you still enjoy food without gluten?

It seems every month I am discovering a new food allergy attacking my gut biome. I am getting nervous that my next step is going to be to axe the gluten.

I am already lactose-intolerant. Most acidic things as well (i.e. tomatoes, pineapple, onion family including garlic). The latest is animal fat, no more lamb, oxtail, ribs, or ribeye steaks.

I'm fairly diverse and I'd call myself an accomplished home cook. I typically eat pretty well rounded I would say. No breakfast, or maybe a swig of kefir. Sandwiches for lunch everyday. Not big on sweets. No soda, lots of water. Dinner of meat and rice, with a side of sauteed veg is a typical easy night. I'll make my own pasta, stews and soups are fairly regular too. Try to eat one vegetarian dinner a week.

Is there any hope to have anything good left if I was forced to cut out gluten as well? Or am i doomed to blandness?

Does anyone have any foody websites they visit with such dietary restrictions? It seems i can't find anything quite niche enough that doesn't go full vegan (I understand I have to substitute some things myself in any recipes. But when 80%< is substituted I don't think that counts as following the recipe)

Or is there any cuisine in particular that seems to be easier to make gluten free?

Just looking for help in general here, any advice.
