My mainstream TV news has an amazing segment. The title read:

No to retirement: Elderly who work are happier than those who retire

And then they go on to interview experts who talk about how elderly who work find purpose and enjoy the comradery with colleagues. Everything illustrated with the example of a smiling graphic designer who came out of retirement to do party time service work. Nobody talks about the elephant in the room: The elderly who are healthy enough to are also a lot happier than those who are too sick to work.

I'm so happy to live in a country with a free and objective press thatb doesn't just act as mouthpieces for elite propaganda!

Please tell me how you're imagining getting people like Peter Thiel, Jeff Bezos or Elon Musk to "work together instead of fighting" and give up their hoarded wealth. What short of sheer force would compel them to do that?

Utopian socialism would be nice if it worked but it patently does not. The bourgeoisie have a very fine time controlling the wealth of the world and they have nothing to gain by accepting democracy. Socialism, like any economic order, is only going to be a reality if it is enforced with violence. If somebody tries to undo the collective ownership to the means of production they will have to be stopped by force, just as force is applied today to stop people from violating bourgeois property rights.

AFAIK he owns a nice mansion in Italy. As long as he gets out of Ukraine in the end he's going to be fine.

I agree with this sentence but I think we have very different ideas of what the "ethical ideals of the EU" are.

The upper class in Denmark are just as big piss babies about paying their taxes as they are anywhere else. Ordinary Danes might like to say they're happy to pay taxes but in reality few of them would pass the opportunity to have their car fixed off the books or to buy beer in Germany to avoid the Danish alcohol tax.

As a European I have certainly noticed how my local regime has used the war and everything that follows to ramp up "crisis consciousness", i.e. getting people scared so they will accept it when you cut back on education, increase work hours and inflate the military budget.

One does not exclude the other. You can easily be victimised, suffer the horrors of war and wish for peace and also buy into the official propaganda about the enemy being ontologically evil, about your side being just and how only final victory will bring peace.

What does victory look like to these people?

Certainly not genocide. However in the liberated terrories freedom and liberty will blossom which is going to make Russians living there wanting to go back home to Russia where they can get the totalitarian evil dictatorship their skull shape makes them long for. They were not living legally in the Ukraine anyways so there's nothing bad about this. Also, any terrorists and spies of the Kremlin that are caught in the liberated territories is going to be prosecuted according to the law in fair trials. Whatever you hear about summary executions will just be Russian propaganda fake news.

I am kind of puzzled why the industrial bourgeoisie of Germany seemingly didn't cause a fuss when the Americans came and ate their lunch. I imagine they hold significant power internally in Germany and consequently you would imagine the German state would be less enthusiastic about the whole war thing. Yet they continue to follow orders from Washington.

At some point something has got to give. Germany and France is not going to accept being America's bitch forever. Maybe at some point in the future Europe will seek independence and detente with Russia and China? Atlanticist brainworms are plentiful in the European elite however so it will take a long time to get there but in the end blind loyalty to America is a dead end for Europe.

It's all a clever ruse to get Russia to overextend themselves and stretch their supply lines thin. Once Russian tanks roll into Lviv the trap will slap shut and Putin will be toast.
