Minecraft's recent EULA changes place heavy restrictions on Java servers
As long as you know your perscription (the three numbers) Glassesusa.com is where its at. Never had an issue with them really. If you have a big head make sure to order large frames. The medium frame is a little tight for me but I actually like that my glasses aren't slipping off my face cobstantly which had always been an issue.
Learn how to crochet/sew/knit, get some hemp fabric/yarn, and start making some basic hemp things like granny squares and magic circles (advertised as hand towls and body/face scrubbers). Open a shop on etsy and start selling. Hemp stuff is making a huge comeback at least here in the US due to the 2018 farm bill legalizing it and it being an excellent fabric material with many boons such as superior strength (8x that of coton) thermal regulation for bed sheets, requiring half the water to produce more yield compared to cotton, being the most co2 absorbant crop on the planet, and replenishing the soil instead of draining it. People who care about the environment (and pot smokers) really love hemp and will pay good $ for quality products. Once you get some skill learn how to tailor/make clothes and you will be in a great place. Get a friend or family member to open a stand at a local farmers market a day or two a week, and if you are really successful get your own llc made and get tax writeoffs for all the yarn and fabric as business expenses.
Lemmy.world is awesome but the servers are overloaded and things don't load sometimes. Lemmy.ml is the next largest instance and seems to be a bit more stable but tradeoff is slightly less users. It depends on your personality too, if you are a super political activist you will probably want to join a political based instance matching roughly your alignment. If you're a sports but there are sports instances. There are over 1000 Lemmy instances each with their own goals and community. Keep in mind not all instances automatically federate with all other instances, they have to cross interact manually by users once for two instances to 'know' about eachother. So the larger all purpose instances like world and ml will have a much more diverse 'all' feed. Also some instances are defederated by most of lemmyverse due to allowing hateful toxic user behavior and inappropriate content
No problem I am happy to have helped you out a bit. It is a shame that being mauled by political type people is one of your first experiences here. I hope that you find Lemmy a good fit and find some communities you really like. Be well and have a good one!
A gallon of Dr. Bronners environmentally friendly soap will last you for a very long time and is an excellent all purpose cleaner. I recommend tea tree oil one for extra antibacterial and antiseptic properties
Nope. The mod logs are public ally available on every Lemmy instance too so if a post is deleted or user banned you can check and see why. To find the mod log scroll to the bottom of an instance and you should see a link at the very bottom. There Is no need or incentive for shadow banning since Lemmy instances are hobbiest run projects not backed by any corpo or investors that want a squeaky clean image. If you are an ass and the community wants you gone and the admins are inclined to agree, you will be banned in the normal manner given a proper reason. No weird backdoor shennanians, this is a normal internet form run and funded by every day joes. If you are so inclined and have the knowledge you cab skim through the source code.
Lemmy is not a single site owned by a single group. Each Lemmy instance is in effect its own website and they can communicate with each other which Is the federation part. Some instances cater to certain kinds of people and communities will skew towards a political direction.
If you are a hardcore right winger there are instances full of right wing extremist waiting for you to join their echo chamber. Same with the left wing nuts, there exist Lemmy instances specifically for them to congregate together. You can do some hunting and find them easily.
The only thing is that most other Lemmy instances will defederate from these kinds of instances since political extremist on either side tend to be hateful and zealous individuals who vocally express their violent fantasies of lynching anyone who doesn't 100% agree with them. Most lemmyverse instances deem this kind of hateful speech unacceptable and will block them from cross - communicating.
Here is an example of a right wing Lemmy community:
Venture bros is fantastic and the finale movie that just came out was a great way to bring the show to pasture. My only regret was not getting the big art book 'go team venture' before it skyrocketed to 500$. Was hoping they would do a print run on it along with movie but that didn't happen.I did some digging and found a digital scan of it online which is nice.
Yes enable dynamic shading in settings and install the wield light mod to have holding a torch light up the surrounding area
Minetest is confusingly both a game engine and a playable game. You probably only ever played the basic sandbox game it comes with by default and thought that was it had to offer. There exist much more feature rich and developed games on the minetest engine. many many games and mods and texture packs.
You may be interested to know about the game 'mineclone2' developed on the minetest engine, which aims to be a faithful FOSS clone of minecraft specifically. I am actually a dev of mineclone2 and can tell you I believe that it is the next best thing to the real deal. A lot of hard work and time and polish has gone into the game by many talented people. Its not perfect, there are rough edges, some things still need work, but its a stable and faithful vanilla experience. Its far superior to minecraft in both performance and modability. Plus bugs are getting squashed and more features are getting added all the time both to mineclone2 and the minetest game engine.

My lo-fi gemini proxy mirrors for minetest and mineclone2. https://portal.mozz.us/gemini/tilde.team/~smokey/minetest-mirror.gmi https://portal.mozz.us/gemini/tilde.team/~smokey/mcl2-mirror.gmi
I have wet dreams about a new text based mesh internet powered by the gemini protocol. Imagine, if you will, instead of paying monthly to your ISP/cell service provider to acess the internet, that instead you bought an 'internet box' once. Where each router/gateway acts both as a self-hosting site for the user, and transmits this site text data to other local routers through LoRaWAN. There are many technical challenges to this kind of networks, one being "how do I check that all other routers have an up-to-date version of any one site?" and blockchain technology seems to fit nicely for that particular issue.
I like to smoke dope.
Gold mine of a post thanks for sharing your experiences.
when you tell dream characters they aren't real they panic and scream in fear
This one is particularly interesting, do you have any further details like what exactly they scream or why this might happen. Are dream characters psudo-sentient consciousnesses like tulpas that literally have an existential crisis when you point out the nature of their reality?
Have you ever tried to render and touch a highly complex mathematical/abstract object like the Mandelbrot set? This may be a good way to test just how much 'resolution' your brain can render since fractals contain infinite detail.
Fractal geometry, the Mandelbrot set is the penultimate example of chaos and symmetry coming together.
I just delved into the EQ this week, wonderful device!
!vaporents@lemmy.beyondcombustion.net is an excellent community you may want to check into :) !trees@lemmy.world is the trees community I frequent, will have to check out the shitjustworks one
I love kruggsmash! Surprised to see the bearded bastard mentioned here. This reply menaces with spikes of bone.
I am one of these people, am a dope smoker and recently got into related Lemmy communities. There's a lot of equipment that you dont hear about until through word of mouth so when I find something I LOVE through word of mouth like the arizer air max or brilliant cut grinder I do my part to scream their praises from the heavens so other smokers have a chance to hear about them.
Unfortunately minetest devs would never allow such a guide on the official site. I would be happy to write up such a guide but unsure where else it could be put for people to easily find it. We have talked about porting mineclone2 as a standalone game to digital game distributor like itch.io or gog. Perhaps I can make a getting started YouTube video and submit it to the official mineclone2 channel.
