  • If you do don't trust em then don't update syncthing - it'll work for quite a while I assume.

And in addition the keepass safe default encryption of AES-256 and is even secure against theoretically existing quantum computer attacks to our current knowledge. It is designed to be not trusted by the storage owner :)

  • As this thread is quite old you won't get a lot of additional engagement I'm afraid. What you can do is outline your situation and ask the natives how they would proceed. There are a lot of ways to ... Live in this system without following the intent of the rules :)

  • The petitions are again something else. As another user said: when the federalistic complaints don't succeed it's legal time. Even different government bodies sue each other regularly.

And it's not as terrible as it sounds: a complaint is highly subjective and in Germany the system tries to push decisions very fast to "correct" or "incorrect", removing the subjectivity of right or wrong.

Now what our legal and formal system have defined as "correct" I full heartily disagree with regularly. The intention to remove subjective evaluation I welcome though for formal bodies. That removes the leeway to have informal discrimination. And formal discrimination becomes at least transparent right away...

  • Joke's on you, user has virtualized windows ME.

But on a serious note, doesn't that simply kill the virtual machine with a useless amount of load? What is different on MacOS? As in: couldn't I do the same with any virtual machine independently of the host OS?

Not familiar with MacOS at all but I wouldn't be surprised if Apple just doesn't respect the VM and has some "safeguard" intervention mechanic...

  • They are employed by themselves. They are not employed AS anything else. You have it right just your conclusion is inconsistent.

It's for me not about the wording of the last paragraph by the way but about the context and requirements list which makes the impression (to me) of offering an employee/employer relationship which is only broken up in the last line. That's the part I really don't like.

This kind of advertisement would be illegal in Germany btw as it would encourage pseudo self employment: someone self employed who is relying on one client only. (And no, not exaggerated: I've a legal department at least pull job description from the tech dept similar to this).

  • You misread the OP. They said that the message should be more clear even if it would be a failure - which it isn't which makes it even worse.

Your display shouldn't say "..." it should say ZERO MILES or something more clear.

When a sensor breaks the message should be "get fuel, bro, cause I have no idea" and not "no idea what's going on".

And as in this case the sensor didn't even break...It's just bad design to have it say "sensor has no data".

Now the question if we want someone driving who is dependent on good design in this context is a different question all together.

  • Heh I literally at the same time you posted answered to someone else that I think I er where I'm coming from.

Personally my issue is more with the framing ("looking for an employee") than with the fact that they want/need a contractor.

I still wish them the best and would encourage everyone qualified to put their energy into a project like this rather than ... Close to anything else!

  • I get where you're coming from. I highly respect this project for its privacy push and it's sadly a good example of "not all issues have the same priority".

I honestly can see them just not being able to handle the business risk of a full employee would bring or several other reasons why it's "okay" from their perspective. I now basically have to choose between two subjects that I find important.

For me I came to the conclusion that I still wish them the best - I can't hold them to a standard ass high as the corporate world personally, let alone one higher.

  • The PSD2 already made charging more for cash payments under all circumstances illegal in the EU.

That's handled by article 62(3) that made it illegal to charge additionally beyond the direct cost of a transaction to merchant themselves.

And the EU cannot be hold responsible for the wrong Treatment of other nationalities. With that logic each country must accept every currency because it would limit autonomy otherwise.

  • It's the Google account people log onto with thats the issue from a security perspective.

That said neither a malicious update was so far identified nor anything that 2FA wouldn't take care of.

This can happen to fdroid apps as well by the way. It's just the downside of small or solo devs that they are on their own when it happens.

I'm actually more confident in the smarttube rev now I have to say. He disclosed it fast, flagged his own apps as compromised even without specific proof and published it from what I can tell pretty much right after finding out.

  • Oh my fucking god. Like ... I knew that the US politics were derailed/deranged but. Wait, I'm actually surprised that I'm surprised by this. It's ... Consistent.

Thanks for this anyway, today I learned something - although the thing itself is shitty the learning isn't 💜

  • Serious question even though I know if the answer isn't "no one" it just sound stupid or loaded to people from these cultural circles:

Who twists the history in a way to light voting rights for women as some kind of male achievement? Oo

I mean I've heard of individual men being supportive but that word already implies them not being the drivers.

I'm genuinely curious because with no exposure to that framing the post reads like ragebaiting - but it also might be justified rage I just wasn't exposed to so far, if you get my drift.

  • Never heard a single person in Germany use it that was around :D

Curious! Perhaps it's either a regional thing or just a different context association? I only think of the predictive version, a variance on "wirds heute sonnig?"

But then again with the pretense case it's not something I'd use either way I think to be honest.
