Little Janky Pinky

Convoy S21A with P2500 buck driver and KD full spectrum pink 10W 5050 emitter.

Fun little light, but a little off in that the Vf of the emitter is 4V on high but it didn’t play well with the convoy buck/boost driver…. So I went with a buck. Use 2x 18350 to get well regulated performance or 1x 21700 for convenience and runtime but experience voltage sag.

Either way it’s a fun light that throws well for an S21A.

SW LED Spectra
  • The second is a zoom showing the minor secondary emission spectra, so there’s light around 400 and 675. It also shows the filter attenuates the 400+ light but doesn’t help with the <400 light so much.

A super user took an emission spectra of one of the LEDs I use. Interesting data for sure!

Well, that's not supposed to happen...
  • Ooh yeah that’s a goner. I wonder what happened. Usually it takes a lot of extended heat to do that and that would be hard to do given the way hank sets up his lights.

It could be anything from a driver fault to a short. Just replacing the led won’t be sufficient.

  • SP36… in pink!
  • Pretty straightforward. The driver is glued in, so I used debonder and pushed the driver out by pushing on the top of the driver through the switch hole with some needle nose pliers.

  • SP36… in pink!

I swapped out the stock emitters in an SP36 for 4 3535 sized pink emitters from KD. The output of the SP36 is pretty well matched to the pink emitters, except turbo won’t be available at a battery voltage of 3.6ish.

Not perfect but still fun. 👍

    Well that’s certainly pink
  • You’d do best to have a driver that controls current within the stated voltage range.

In that little light I’m using a 12V boost, but it controls low enough to regulate at the low end.

  • Well that’s certainly pink
  • I’ve got 5 5050 and 20 3535. I’m more than happy to send you some at cost if you’re interested. I've also got a big 9090 sized blue emitter that I don't think I'm going to use if you're interested.

  • Well that’s certainly pink

First Lemmy post. Let’s see how this goes..!

I got some 5050 and 3535 pink emitters from KD

    !

They’re looking like they will be fun to work with..!
