  • Yeah it's Sunday. Someone hasn't had their coffee yet it seems. :-)

  • Mastodon.social has the default 500 character limit. There are a few which have changed that (because it's not a configurable setting). Most large servers on this list aren't blocking too many others and aren't blocked by others https://fedidb.org/software/mastodon (Maybe don't choose mstdn.jp)

I host https://mastodon.world myself but there are many others like it. For me, choices could be based on:

    • What's the server topic (if any)
    • Is the server run by a single person, or a team? (For continuity reasons, but this info is mostly hard to find)
    • Can I agree with the server rules?

Also, you could consider other platforms which are similar to Mastodon, and can communicate with Mastodon, but might have some features you prefer which Mastodon hasn't't (like quote posts, bigger character limit etc). For my personal account, I use Sharkey (https://sharkey.world is mine too), but you can also consider Pleroma, Friendica and many many others.

Sorry if I made the choice more complicated... and let me know if you have questions.

  • I did get Lemmy stickers of course

  • I am there. But will leave soon

  • I use 2do which isn't free but works very well!

  • Actually 2 reasons why. First and most important, this was needed so we can use tooling to detect and remove CSAM material. Secondly, it's because this is more cheap and scalable than having it on disk.

  • Depends on what sort of invoices. For my invoices for billable hours, I use Kimai

  • I fixed that link, but actually lemmy.world/legal should redirect to legal.lemmy.world, which it apparently doesn't always do. So we'll look into that as well.

    Thanks for pointing this out.

  • Yes, there has been quite a lot of trolls and attacks on our server, so we're very careful about who we let on the team. I'm sure you'll understand.

  • 1.2 TB for pictures and 100GB for Postgres

  • But it’s not in S3 yet. Still on disk.

  • Too bad fire.fish is also gone..

  • That's not the pictures... The picture take up 1.2 TB.. it's just the database with the metadata about the pictures. (11.8 GB now...)

  • It's grown from 3.1 GB to over 8GB and still running...

  • It's building a 0.4 database, which is already twice as big as the 0.3 one

  • Fediverse @lemmy.world
