In response to the disastrous Spez AMA, /r/Videos have announced that they will permanently shut down on 11th June, one day ahead of the planned blackout
  • No, tilde it’s is own thing. Resembles Reddit in the beginning, promotes a few long and deep conversations instead of a lot and short comments. It’s interesting but their philosophy makes growth really slow (by choice) and the serious nature of most of the threads tends to turn a lot of people off (it’s not very fun most of the time). I like it but it’s not Reddit nor is trying to be.

  • A new Linux dektop environment is under development - Kera Desktop
  • Wasn’t that the approach of Firefox OS? Not sure how successful this will be but I’m glad somebody is trying it. If webapps were a bit more ubiquitous, I could see this being a good alternative to something like ChromeOS
