I mean it's not NewPipe's fault that Google Play hosts malware.

Based on what Louis Rossmann said it does seem the more restrictive licence comes from a place of good intentions:

However if you modify the source code of this application to insert advertisements trackers or malware in it and then try to redistribute our application with maare ads or trackers in it in a deceptive way we will come after you. That is why we have a license that is not as permissive as NewPipes'.

But idk if that's also what the license actually means legally-speaking. I'm no expert but section 4 seems pretty dubious:

On macs, only with image capture, which is very subpar

It's a slippery slope though. Unless you own a mac or pay subscribe to icloud storage tranferring photos and other files off your phone is gonna be a pain. Also, unless you get a mac with enough storage space it's also gonna be a pain because iphotos doesn't support direct transfer to external drives, so you gotta use image capture which is ridiculously barebones.

What ideology are you talking about? Sure, you might just be a salty liberal or propertarian, but such vaguery could easily be a dogwhistle for something sinister.

I'd look at foss licenses more as tools of defence against (and within) the current system/context than "rules" that serve to enforce some kind of anti-capitalist "heirarchy".
