Hello friends
  • Cheers, thanks for the community.

  • First trip alone?
  • I agree, start small (0.75 - 1.25gm) even 0.5gm can be fun and not overwhelming, more like a subtle shift that is cool but not too demanding. If you are going over a gram have someone you are super comfortable with to help you deal with situations. Beaches and forrests are cool, stay away from drunk people.

    Have fun.

  • 61% of Australians favor sending navy to prevent Chinese blockade of Taiwan: Lowy Institute poll
  • 61% of Australians don't realise that our Navy will have no meaningful impact.

Would be better of banning exports of coal and iron ore to China, but that would hurt the megga proffits of our mining magnates and we can't have that.

  • Just started using lemmy and while I don't currently own a motorcycle I will post a picture of what I help build everyday
  • iKon shocks are great arent they. Had them on my Kwaka, went with Hagon (UK) shocks with a classic shroud for my Trumpy. They also make a good shock.

Anyway well done, nice looking bike. Be great for taking to a cancer fundraiser ride we have called "The distinguished gentleman's ride" https://www.gentlemansride.com/

  • 15k seems ok for something like this, would definitely buy one if the start sending them to Australia 🇦🇺

  • So friggin cool. Modern bits but looks 100yrs old. I want one, but may not be able to afford one. What does something like this cost?

  • YSK: Installing a bidet attachment to your toilet is super easy and probably cleaner than using toilet paper.
  • Also South East Asia - bucket of water with a plastic cup next to the hole in the floor. I don't have a problem dribbling water down my buttcrack with my right hand while scrubbing my clacker valve with my left hand, but squatting over a hole in the floor is hell on the knees when you are nearly 2m tall.

  • Orange smoked pork belly
  • Actually looks more like "Get in mah belly" Yummo.

  • Pedestrians and cyclists implicated for their own mortality by Victoria Police in road safety education campaign. #australia
  • Perhaps they are just talking to pedestrians and cyclists that are in a world of their own? Not everything to do with the copers has to do with fines.

The number of pedestrians I see crossing roads with their heads glued to their phones, cyclists at night with no lights or cruising through red lights, groups riding 4 abreast on narrow, winding and hilly 100kmh roads (just a few examples) is astonishing.

Like it or not vehicles will always exist and it is up to everyone to play their part in not being a danger to anyone else or themselves.

Yes there are a lot of reckless, careless, distracted or entitled drivers but there are also pedestrians and cyclists that fit squarely in one or more of those categories.

I say this as someone who has been severely injured on my bicycle as the result of a hit and run, but also continues to ride. I also ride motorcycles and drive over 1000km per week for work for over 40 years, avoiding idiots multiple times a day, be they driving, walking or riding.

Perhaps we all need to be more spatially aware, courteous and in less of a hurry with more sense of self preservation, regardless of our mode of transport.

Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk. ✌️

  • Anybody else think it’s kind of a self-dig that we’re referred to as lemmings?
  • We are all cute in this blessed place.

    (Yeah they are pretty cute)

  • Shortest day of the year is almost here for Australia
  • At the end of a dirt road on the southern part of great dividing range, 80km from the nearest town. It is paradise, but for a month every year the sun is a bit lacklustre. Tassie is nice, been only once but fond memories of the place, admittedly that was 45yrs ago.

  • I can't wait, I am on standalone solar between two hills. At the moment my panels are getting about 3 hours direct sunlight per day, not good for the batteries or my wallet as I am having to run the genny each day. (Doesnt help that it has been rainy/overcast for the past 6 days)

Hopefully tomorrow is a new day as I have just increased my PV array by 100% today. Fingers crossed.

  • Uncle Bens is the go to grow

If you haven't tried the uncle bens technique the do yourself a favour and get onto it. Easy, cheap and productive.
