I also feel the name is a downgrade and within that thread it sounds like maybe they are listening to the feedback and “Skilhunt” will still be used in some way along with this new brand.
Well said. It does seem to live up to the hype especially due to the price (which those LEDs must help keep low). I originally ordered 4000k and orange aux which I lost pretty soon after. For the repurchase I got 5700k since I didn’t like the 4000k much - I’d rather have either 3000k or 5000k for some reason.
I saw your other comment about low-levels which is how I use this one, it’s set to around 100 ceiling (out of 150) which lets one 14500 last for a week or so with frequent short uses.
ts10 is used a lot as a daily light. I would prefer 5000k but I still like the cooler temperature for daytime use.
S21d is a lot power in a tiny package so probably my favorite despite being impractical.
The sc21 is never used these days but it can be given away easily due to onboard chargin so I keep it accessible.
And I also forgot to include another favorite in this size, Lumintop fw1aa. It’s a mini-thrower that I got discounted from Aliexpress shortly before it was discontinued (unfortunately IMO).
The catapult mini v2 also with sft40 lists 1100 lumens for turbo, so maybe it has a 4-5 amp driver. But it also seems to be regulated with 400 sustained lumens in zeroair’s review. With the addition of custom UI and aux in the ts11, maybe long sustained use isn’t really needed for a pocket thrower in which case it would be a better choice.
I started compiling a few links in this post: https://lemmy.world/post/1093406. Could form the start of a wiki or similar collaborative doc, if you have any ideas please comment.
Nice setup. Maybe an obvious question, but do you ever use this light on 100% and how does it do with heat management given the wattage and metal? Thanks!
Agreed. It seems like Convoy’s owner Simon pays close attention to previous sales when considering new products, and now they are offering multiple lights in copper and titanium as well as beginning to support Anduril (1) this year. So if the sales are there, I would expect and hope to see more new developments in this direction.
Thanks! Since the S21B supports 22mm drivers (unlike the S21A’s 20mm) it has a few more options, although this config was by request in the order notes.
As for 8A buck drivers, nowadays they are available in 17mm (as you mentioned) 22mm, and 20mm as well which I’m hoping to try (maybe mao S21A with sft40?)
These were purchased directly from the manufacturer via this official store: https://m.aliexpress.com/store/1100591265. Shipped from China to USA in about 3-4 weeks usually.
👋 I was a long-time reader of the other site but recently created accounts here and at BLF to contribute as well. Discovered Convoy there and resources such as https://tgreviews.com/grizzlys-convoy-guide, which led to placing a few orders via Aliexpress successfully. Now it’s a favorite brand.
These make great night lights in 2700k (the moonlight mode is acceptably low).
Watch out for standby drain which can bring the battery to below standard voltage such that the hs10 won’t charge it. Loosening the tail cap is a good idea for medium-term storage.
According to the Convoy BLF thread there is also an 8A buck driver coming in 20mm size. That (or these new 17mm drivers with an adapter) enables more options for the S21A as well.
These look amazing. Is that an S6 in the first picture as well?
Any resources you found especially useful to assemble these? Thanks!
