[SSD] Samsung 990 PRO with Heatsink 1 TB PCIe 4.0 NVMe M.2 SSD ($215 - $95 = $120) [Staples]
  • Depends what you use it for, this is the highest-end gen4 drive that only few people could actually maximize the speeds from. For gaming, this is extremely overkill and you won't benefit too much from the higher speeds. The 970 would be adequate for most people.

  • Thank you! The bot will be the main poster of this sub, as manual entries will be rather difficult with timing of deals. There shouldn't be many human posts. Thank you for the swift-reversal! :)

  • I've been absent...

    Hey all,

I've been pretty absent from this community over the summer. Life got a hold of me and I've been pretty busy. In my absence, a bot was made by @Poutinetown that was wonderful and able to post deals which is what I had originally hoped could be done for this community. I've made @Poutinetown a mod so that if I go absent again (I will try not to), at least someone can attempt to keep things going.

I have also reached out to a couple of the admins of this instance in hopes of getting the bot unbanned, since without it, it is a rather quiet community and who REALLY wants to manually post deals? Let's hope that this can be resolved!

  • So I've been a little absent the past few months (haven't even logged in), and I'll be honest, I never even saw that we had gotten a bot. It's great that we had one, but this community is pretty small to begin with. Hopefully the community is able to get the bot back in the sub

A call for people with experience

Howdy everyone. As this community begins to get more members, I'm looking for anyone with experience with RSS capable of auto-posting from other sites (RFD, r/bapcsalescanada, etc.) so that deals can be posted frequently on here (and while they are still on). From my understanding, I can for example, use: "https://www.reddit.com/r/bapcsalescanada/.rss" to get the rss feed for r/bapcsalescanada, but I am not sure on how to get it to post in this community.

Additionally, if there is something equivalent to the specs bot that is capable of posting the specs of ssds, or BapcsBotCanada that posts similar deals that have been posted recently.

    Welcome to BAPC Sales Canada!

This is just a community meant for migrators of Reddit to come on over. I have no idea how to mod and get things going, but it would be cool if someone with some knowledge could set up an RSS-Feed or something to get some automated deals posted!

    Struggling with all-or-nothing mindset
  • Set a realistic threat level that meets your balance of privacy/convienience and stick to it. I know it is easier said than done, but once you start to get used to it, then you can think about making slight adjustments to better your privacy here and there. If you try to go full privacy right off the bat, you are going to get frustrated.

Start with changing 1-2 things at a time and go from there. Perhaps just change your browser/settings and your email. Adjust from there after a few months

  • Welcome, new users!
  • Thanks for making this Canadian instance :) I first created my account on Lemmy.ml, but also made one here since I am Canadian. Looking forward to seeing Lemmy grow as a whole, and see more Canadians join the Fediverise :)

For anyone interested, I've made a community for posting PC hardware/accessory sales (r/bapcsalescanada). Feel free to join and contribute. And if you know how to create an RSS feed, also let me know!

  • First off, congrats on being clean! Such a huge accomplishment! I'm going to ask a few questions: -How did you start? -What was your rock bottom moment? -What was the convincing factor that made you get clean?
