Lemmy users, are your parents bad at cooking
  • @x4740N

My mother was awesome at cooking but I never helped or watched her & now I can confidently say I am a better cook than she is.

  • No, 3 million electric toothbrushes were not used in a DDoS attack
  • @SeeJayEmm

But you still had to pay for the tech installed in the toothbrush.

Try finding a good brush that doesn't have this tech installed :/

  • Lawyers raise alarm at struggle to tackle UK local government corruption
  • @ianovic69 @mannycalavera

Really not surprising at all tbh.

I am currently reading 'How Westminster Works' & it's nothing short of eye opening of the ineptness of all the politicians and the current system.

    I highly recommend it.

  • Climate Deniers Shift Tactics to 'Inactivism'
  • @AllonzeeLV @fossilesque

If you get the opportunity I would recommend reading ‘Climate’ by Greta Thunberg. She has managed to collate a fucking great bunch of the worlds top climate scientists in their given fields. It’s pretty eye opening and shocking.

  • Are you holding off on any game in particular right now?
  • @ICastFist @glau

I never buy any games now until they're under a tenner.

The irony of that is I will willing spend £30-60 on #TTRPG books instead :D

  • Online Safety Bill: Algorithms that lead boys to Andrew Tate content targeted
  • @dojan @Mr_Will

I’d recommend you read ‘Weapons of Math Destruction’.

Algorithms are usually developed with the best of intentions but no one really knows how they will behave out in the wild.

‘High school’? Since when did we become Americanised? Surely you mean seniors? 😄

  • Reminder it's Father's day tomorrow!
  • @Ni @juniper It gets harder to buy parent gifts as they get older :/

  • Board game fans - what are you playing?
  • @Finnbot

I own only one. Merchant Of Venus (original Avalon Hill) in mint condition.

Would have cost you £80 back in 90' :)

  • If this works I should post to the feddit.uk lemmy community from mastodon [@unitedkingdom](https://feddit.uk/c/unitedkingdom)
  • @doublejay3000 @TedWard

I'm predominately a Mastodon user and I create lists.

So for example I have a list for 'unitedkingdom@feddit.uk' and when new stuff gets published to that community it populates my list :)

  • Just deleted my 12 year old reddit account
  • @thegiddystitcher

Yes but you can use Mastodon to read Lemmy.

As I have been doing. So as a Lemmy user you should include Hashtags to make it easier for Mastodon users to find and reply to your posts. :)

  • I am a grownup. Here is my birthday icecream.
  • @TeaHands @kev

As a UK resident 'Lemon Ice' to me would be a lemon flavoured Slushy. Just saying :)

As someone who has been using the Fediverse almost since it's inception it will take time for a community to grow.

Teach others, sell it to them, evangelise if necessary because as with any community it's the people that make it.

The more people the bigger it becomes.

And don't forget your hashtags. It's how you get seen and found :)

  • Do you use a separate knife for the Marmite?
  • @TeaHands @Fassmacher

I don't. I can use a single knife and have never, I repeat, never contaminated a single jar of Marmite. #Marmite
