  • Defederation is not censorship. It is refusing to listen to or platform things that you don't agree with i.e. bigots or nazis. Lemmy.world has defederated exploding heads so it stands to reason that they wouldn't want to listen to the same assholes spewing the same crap on rammy.site

  • They'll just create more communities, have you seen the community spam on here lately? If they did that fighting against each other do you really think they wouldn't evade community bans on lemmy.world? Defederation is the only way unless the admin comes back and does a sweeping IP ban of everyone posting shit on here, followed by defederating exploding-heads. I don't foresee that happening though, admin has been MIA for over a month with no sign of returning and there's almost no activity here besides me and the assholes from EH.

    It's one thing to disagree with someone, it's another to make disgusting accusations based on a person's orientation/identity. They're literally trying to say that all LGBT people are pedophiles because they disagree. How do you think that is okay?

  • Yeah I hope he can salvage the instance whenever he gets back, if he ever gets back. He'll probably have to wipe it clean and get a new domain honestly. This is why if setting up a Lemmy instance it's important that you always get a team of people to work together as admins, that way there's always someone there to take care of the problem and you don't end up in situations like this.

  • Yep they trash smaller instances until larger ones defederate them and all the users on them. I'm thankful I don't have many posts or comments on my account but it absolutely sucks that I'm going to need to find another probably less reliable server.

    Any suggestions for good servers to use as my new home server? I can't really host one because I have potato internet in a mobile unit (don't believe what they say, Starlink is absolutely awful) and I also don't really want to buy a static IP. Just want a small instance with good uptime like rammy did but better moderation.

    Why would being cis imply that you should stay away from all things feminine? I mean if you enjoy feminine things then you should do what you like, don't avoid things that bring you joy in attempt to conform to some made up standard.

  • No you aren't weird, gender identity isn't defined by a person's gender conformity or lack there of. Wear whatever makes you feel comfortable, don't worry about it making you one thing or another.

    If you have any doubts about your gender identity you should by all means question. I'm not saying you shouldn't. I'm saying the idea that you should wear what you want without worrying so much about what it makes you. You should identify in a way that feels right for you, that's what gender identity is based on, not whether some piece of cloth is semantically considered feminine or masculine.

    It was very nice of your sister to give you her old clothes.
