Well that fucking sucks. One of the few major tech companies we could be proud of in Europe, staunch supporters of open source principles. Now part of a soulless American tech corporation. RIP Arduino.

"An upscaled version" meaning it was pre-upscaled? With some more advanced upscaling algorithms you can get decent results, but not with crappy realtime TV upscaling. Also unless the DVD or Netflix version were the actual basis for the upscale, that's not really a meaningful comparison. Those formats may have their own issues with compression etc. But ultimately to each their own, some people may prefer the softer look.

Modern TVs do upscaling, so anything lower res you watch on a 4K or 8K screen will get upscaled a bit. Watching crappy quality stuff on a 4K tv will get blown up enough for you to really see a difference compared to a lower def tv.

Call me a purist but native resolution will always look better than an upscaled image to me. Upscaling can't show any additional details, it basically just softens the image.

Early 30s and I'd say I haven't noticed much of a difference when it comes to recovery. I'm actually getting sick much more rarely than when I was younger, but I guess that's down to working from home and not having to sit in a cramped classroom each day.

It was the same thing for FullHD TVs in the beginning. Some people like to be early adopters of technology. Although in my opinion, when it comes to resolutions, we're really hitting diminishing returns with 8K.

Leider denke ich dass das Thema für die allermeisten Menschen keine Rolle spielt und viele auch gar nichts davon wissen. In den Medien wird es auch so gut wie gar nicht thematisiert.

I disagree with the notion that letting users make their own decisions regarding where to install apps from is a vulnerability. That's how computers have always and are supposed to work. It's like saying banking apps are a vulnerability because people can transfer money to scammers through them.

For me, trying to read a book on any display that isn't e-ink is a horrible experience that hurts my eyes pretty quickly. Even more so on a tiny phone screen.

I'd expect there will be a ton of outdoor activities like hiking, kayaking etc during the day. For downtime during the evenings, bad weather etc, I'd bring a book or two. Maybe also ask your friend how they intend to spend their time there.

In general: Trying to live and survive is a basic function of life.

I've enjoyed it quite a bit more than the first one. It's still mostly a creative builder game, but they've improved the simulation aspects enough to make them fun. They've also fixed a few pain points of the first games, like paths.

Finde ich erstmal nicht zwingend problematisch. Öffentliche Ladepunkte braucht es vor allem in städtischen Gebieten. Auf dem Land kann man sich in der Regel eine Wallbox einbauen, was finanziell auch viel mehr Sinn ergibt. In meinem Dorf gibt es 2 Ladepunkte, aber trotz einiger E-Autofahrer sehe ich äußerst selten dass die jemand nutzt.

Predatory as hell. Almost impressive how Valve manages to simultaneously be one of the best and one of the worst companies in gaming.
