  • I don't fully understand how this works. The pump and valve are used to circulate hot water though the hot pipe and back through the cold pipe.

But... doesn't that mean you never have cold water? Because the cold pipe is by definition also hot now?

It seems as if this just shifts the problem from "wasting hot" to "wasting cold" to get the water you want.

  • That would have been nice, but our plumbing doesn't allow it. We would have to put in return pipes and that means tearing up the walls. Hard no, sadly.

  • I have solar water panels on my roof so hot water costs nothing except just the water. Having the machine warm up cold water would cost electrical power. Glad to see this confirmed so I don't feel as nerdy about it.

  • Amazing how there really is an XKXD for everything 😘👌

  • Readability would be much improved by removing the decimals.

I like the color scale - is it bad because of color blindness, or is there another reason?

  • Very high on my list is the anti-religion rant in Mr Robot, spoken by the protagonist Elliot.

"[...] All religions are just metastasizing mind worms [...] If I don't listen to my imaginary friend, why should I listen to yours? [...]"

  • Can't mention Sublime without also a nod to Notepad++

  • For a moment there I did not know that word is the name of a software application. Reading your sentence literally is... odd.

  • I just run it all on a retired laptop. Low power, quiet, plenty of performance. With a NAS next to it, even storage is no issue.

  • TLDR: Two wrongs don't make a right, but three lefts will.

  • How does one "find their scent"? Just the thought of going to the perfume aisle makes me nauseous... And I can't tell one from the other anyway.

  • No offense, but this question is what is holding many people back that would otherwise be on the fence or ready to go.

If there were just Mac / Windows / Linux, it would be an easy sell.

But we have Mac / Windows / two million Linux flavors.

It does not matter which one you pick, it is bound to cause questions or issues. And once you've chosen a Linux flavor, someone asks you why you chose that desktop and not foobar9000 instead which everyone knows runs much better on your Linux flavor anyway.

I honestly think that Linux' biggest enemy is Linux. Sure, choice is good, but this is too much. Way too much.

  • For me it wasnt the police station but the traffic helicopter saying something half-unintelligible. My brother and I refer to it frequently as "yadda yadda reporting heavy traffic"

  • I'm burnt out trying to go the standard mile, even. Because corpo now expects everyone to fill in for the two others that left, so we're all on triple workload. Forget about any extra miles.
