A game you "didn't know it was bad 'til people told you so"?
  • Digimon World 4.

Granted, I was a child when I played it, and I remember having a grand whole time.

Years later I found a few YouTubers shitting on it due to bugs, recycled assets, lack of digivolutions, shitty camera angles, spammy gameplay, etc etc.

I agree with all of these criticisms and in hindsight yea that game was really lazy. However, I still had a good time.

  • News outlets in crisis mode as Google-led AI search push crushes website traffic
  • I have a different theory. Google started scrapping Reddit since its gone public, so I think this is a strategy to get people to use [search query] + reddit in order to find answers, so that Google can scrape that data to train their AI

  • New 'SmartAttack' Steals Air-Gapped Data Using Smartwatches - SecurityWeek
  • Reminds me of that "study" from HP where they hacked a third-party ink cartridge to justify not letting you use their printer, even to scan, without buying genuine HP cartridges and having them on at all times.

    Ridiculous levels of gaslighting.

  • Fedora & RedHat, should I be concerned?
  • You should. Give OpenSUSE Tumbleweed a try. It's about as leading-edge as Fedora, but without the Red Hat baggage.

SUSE, the enterprise behind OpenSUSE, has scarcely any controversies behind it. It is also EU-based.

Plus tumbleweed works pretty well. That's my daily driver distro.

  • Linux Users Switching Back to Linux
  • No! Don't take the fall for what Windows forces you to do. Creating a billion GUI menus for users to get through before reaching what they really want to reach was Microsoft's choice, not yours.

  • Linux Users Switching Back to Linux
  • Mac is actually nice to use though... My wife has one and it was my first exposure to them.

As a lifelong Windows user, I recall vividly asking myself "why am I not being abused by random pop ups and an overly complicated process to achieve basic things right now?" over and over while working on her machine.

Plus their graphical interface is a pleasure to work with once you get past some of its quirks. If I wasn't already happily on Linux I would definitely move to Mac.

  • Someone found this phone advertisment on Facebook
  • Its not just about banking apps, I just used that example as an escape goat.

Basically, I tried GrapheneOS briefly without Google play services, and there were some things I couldn't get to work (I can't recall now what since it was so long ago) but it was bothersome enough that I just installed it shortly after.

I still rely on services like Google play for some Apps (like Tasker), and i haven't gotten rid of Google Maps entirely although I can do 90% of what I need with other apps. Also, don't most apps need Gplay Services to feed you notifications? Not having notifications on my phone is a deal breaker for me.

Basically, for my threat model I just need to give as little data about myself to big tech, but not at the expense of too much convenience. I just can't imagine using a phone without Google Play services.

  • I'm confused. Is this some sort of polygamous relationship you're involved in?

Otherwise, I don't really see how it's that other woman's (I assume ex-wife) business how many children her ex-husband has.

  • Over a month of Linux, my thoughts compiled
  • I agree with you thoroughly. I hated on GNOME for looking different from Windows and immediately went to KDE.

Then one time I said "meh, why not try it?" and was immediately converted on the spot.

Now KDE, Cinnamon, XFCE etc don't make sense to me anymorr. Why so many windows??
