"Since last evening, Gaza has not known calm, as the occupation's vehicles continue to open fire north of Rafah city in the south of the Strip, concurrent with demolition operations targeting

  • How is this even a ceasefire? What are the guarantors doing?

This is the same as in Lebanon, a one-sided ceasefire as Israel continues its aggression.

  • Yes, I have. I demonstrated how a centrally planned marketplace can thrive with a historical example. It is not like zoning laws and transit-oriented development are new things. But the effort was wasted on someone who already decided "Arab country bad" and won't look past their biases.

  • A market town is a settlement (commonly in Europe) that obtained a market right (by custom or royal charter) in the Middle Ages, which allowed it to host a regular market; this distinguished it from a village or a city. In Britain, small rural towns with a hinterland of villages are still commonly called market towns, and is sometimes reflected in their names (e.g. Downham Market, Market Rasen, or Market Drayton).

Trolling aside, this is about a sporting event, nothing is getting built. Never mind that the companies involved in the construction were international:

So far, four have responded: Aktor (Greece), Bouygues (France), Carillion (UK) and Vinci (France). Two have committed to respond: Besix (Belgium) and OHL (Spain).

Five declined outright to respond, and we are continuing to follow up with the remaining thirteen, encouraging them to respond. Doing so is an opportunity for a company to demonstrate the steps it is taking on working conditions in Qatar, and to improve transparency on this important issue across the industry.

Companies we have not yet heard from are below. We will continue to follow up with them, and welcome a response at any time.

  • Biden's, and the Democratic establishment's, favourite country. The genocide in Gaza exposed a lot, and even oft repeated lies such as: "the only democracy in the middle east" and "the most moral army" became evidently absurd.

  • I am looking forward to GNU+Linux usage share numbers a year from now. I think it is very likely to pass 5%.

  • Russia isn't Iraq or Cuba or Venezuela. Amerikkkan exceptionalists are learning this lesson and all it took is weakening their own and Europe's economy.

Bessent went further in his comments, accusing the EU of “funding the war themselves” by continuing to purchase Russian oil and other Russian resources, thereby undermining the pressure that sanctions are supposed to exert. Despite the array of measures undertaken against Russia, according to Bessent, Moscow’s economy has adapted, and Russia remains economically resilient enough to continue funding its war efforts indefinitely.

He just wants them buying more expensive US oil and gas at the cost of deindustrialization. This is one way to bring manufacturing back to the US, by hollowing out Europe.

  • OpenAI, and others, lose money on every prompt even with paid subscriptions. The resources will still be wasted by them but to cost them money is priceless.
