Atomic bombing of Japan was NOT necessary to end WWII. US gov't documents admit it
  • Every aspect of culture and education in the US is dedicated to drilling into the minds of people that the US are the most good, the most just, the most honest, that their systems of governance are based on these values, and the majority of people work hard towards maintaining that.

So when a USonian is faced with this narrative being broken, they fall back into cognitive dissonance. It's only recently we've seen a reversal of this to a significant scale, but ask anyone and they'll likely tell you that they still believe these things were true a couple decades ago and it's only now that the US has become bad.

Whatever the US has accused communists of doing to their people, the US has already perfected it.

  • They went as far as intentionally not bombing certain cities, to encourage refugees, industries and military offices to relocate there, so when they did bomb them later they'd inflict greater casualties and damage. They didn't do this explicitly to drop nukes, but the list of targets largely contained these cities.

  • RFK, Jr. staff block Palestine dialogue after the candidate agreed to it
  • RFK Jr made some convoluted comment about a study that said Askenazi Jews not getting COVID as much as others and that this would indicate COVID might have been created to target based on genetics.

Regardless if this is valid or not to suggest, the Israel lobby jumped on him right away. He's always been careful so far in saying as little as possible about Israel-Palestine but hinting he's mildly pro-Israel.

My guess is that he probably worked out some sort of deal with the Israel lobby to not interfere in his campaign, and he's trying hard to re-establish that deal, at the expense of his integrity image.

I can't say that the guy had won my sympathy before. But as Max Blumenthal commented about this "this is further proof that you can't currently be part of the Democratic party and have consistent values".

  • Looks like the "coup" is over
  • There's certainly a group of Pentagon generals who are against the war in Ukraine, based on pragmatism mostly. Some will regularly put out reports on how supporting Ukraine is a lost cause, and that it can't be expected to take back any territory. A really small number pushed back against provoking Russia further, at the beginning of the war. Of course, nobody in the administration has taken up their message, and the MSM mostly keep these reports and declarations quiet. So most of them have either chosen to switch their rhetoric or stay quiet.

  • The problem is that going so deep means radio signals don't work anymore. The water is too dense to transmit a signal for any meaningful distance. Since they were planning to only dive at that location specifically though, they could have placed buoys to act as signal boosters, or some equivalent technology.

At any rate, it seems 5 rich people died because they cut corners on the sub. Ironic.

  • Cringe comments down this thread.
  • I love the comments "Must be one of those lemmygrad types". They are so used to their echo-chamber that when someone opposes their viewpoint, they immediately and automatically conclude it's a troll.

  • Found this while looking into USA history schoolbooks on Revolutionary France
  • Unfortunately, a lot of the non-French western perception on the French Revolution is formed by European monarchist propaganda, such as Les Miserables.

Worth noting that Victor Hugo did not live through the revolution. He was born around 20 years later, and grew up under the restored monarchy (restored by the other European monarchs). He became a pro-monarchist politician, and his works reflect his political leanings.

  • how do we report problematic instances?
  • You can limit yourself to Local, which will only show you communities from your own instance.

Also, when you see a clear case of someone acting in a shitty manner you can report them. This report doesn't just go to the community's mods. It also goes to all the admins of all instances involved (your and their accounts', and the community's instance) as well as to the top admins. But be warned that it's not anonymous (your username appears in the report).

You can also open a discussion with the admins and users of your instance. Your admins can block other instances, but that will apply to all users of your instance.

I'd suggest just to be patient though. Usually fascist instances tend to get banned and defederated.

Or you can find an instance that is already defederated from the problematic one.
