  • I made a snap decision to go see it today. My session starts at 12:30.

As a 49yo who has been comic book reader/collector since i was 16 I want fun, fan service & clear dialogue (I think my hearing is going).

    Have fun tomorrow.

  • Added bonus: my 9yo son is eating it! He can be ultra cautious with anything new. So watching him scoff it down is pretty heartwarming.

  • I've had my Mum's vegetable soup since I moved out of home permanently at age 22. 28 years ago.

    Today I finally made it.

Couldn't fit in the pumpkin and I know I won't get any rice in at the end but it's ok. Added some minced garlic but stuck to the recipe otherwise.

Not exciting but warm and familiar and chunky.

  • Police helicopter circling near my kid's school. Distracting..

In unrelated news: I have never clipped a cat's claw before. When we adopted our void cat in February she desperately needed her claws clipped as they had curled under, almost pushing into her paw. We had them clipped at the vet and since then she has been great at using the many scratching posts we have. But I knew that if I could clip her claws it would be an added bonus.

Today, with the assistance of a treat, I did 3 claws! Just small clips and I stopped as it felt like an excellent start. No scratching or biting. One hiss but a bit of the treat helped her. Made sure not to go too low.

  • Does anyone here have a recommendation a psychologist in the Monash Council area?

GP is happy to give me a referral but needs a name.

I need help with stress, anxiety & depression. Trying to avoid meds if possible. Need to get on top of this.

    Thanks for anything & everything.

  • I have not cooked a roast anything in many, many years. But tonight WE ROAST!

Chicken is the beast of choice! With roast veg, cauliflower & cheese and peas.

I'm a boring, basic cook at best so this could go either way..

  • Aww! poor girl! I bet the relief you felt when you got her back was intense. Sounds like the rainy weather kept her close.

My girl just bolted. When she jumped the fence my heart dropped. We're close to Scotchmans Creek and the foxes there that have been known to attack cats. She's not much of a climber inside so seeing that just told me how panicked she was. Or determined.

Since she's been back inside she's had some bonus treats and resumed sitting in her favorite spot by the window.

  • My indoor cat just dashed through the door as I was going out. First time she has done this. I only adopted her almost a month.

    Panic!

She jumped my fence which borders a large park. I grabbed a blanket, some food and went into the park, yelling her name but not really hopeful.

My son comes out yelling "Mum! She's at the back door!". He let's her in and she bolts for a bed to hide under.

She can have all the pets and treats tonight. My heart rate is gonna take some time to recover.

  • It's nice to be social but I've had my fill for this week. Need a lot of solo time to recharge.

Today is all about finding a farm stay for a mum-&-son weekend away in a couple of months, making tteokbokki for the first time and doing the ironing.

Loving this weather. Love this type of easy, light rain.

    But first: coffee!

  • Got to the beach with junior. Beach Rd is very busy already. Parking is being quickly claimed. So glad we got here when we did.

  • Promised my kid an early morning beach visit tomorrow. Can't say I'm overly excited about it but it still should be nice to dip my toes around 7am. An hour or 2 then home to AC.

Feeling a little caged at the moment with this heat.

  • Reluctantly went out and driving through Mt Waverley is eye opening. So many damaged houses and people just in shock. It is absolute carnage in some streets.

We got lucky. Major tree fell but only slight damage to fence & garage... No power but I'm not surprised. If we get it back before midnight I'll be surprised.

Traffic lights out all along Blackburn Rd from Waverley Rd to Canterbury Rd (possibly further but this is where I went).

SES, police, water companies, electric companies, councils & fire crews will be working stretched for weeks just dealing with the damage/repairs.

This will break a lot of people.

In the 5km radius of my home on the Vic Emergency app I can see 181 incidents. And they just keep on adding on and on.

I feel incredibly lucky and a bit stunned right now.

  • Survived a social day. In reviewing today's play I can only see 1 overreaction and maybe 2-3 oversharing moments.

No anxiety though which is amazing. And didn't cause a scene (mind you, i generally tend to avoid those). Bloody exhausted though.

  • Seeking suggestions for a cafe, open Saturday afternoons till 5pm or later, around Greensborough or surrounding suburbs.

Catching up with bestie and wanna take her somewhere noice without deafening music but good coffee. Focus here is being able to talk freely and hear each other.

Every place I've checked so far closes at 2 or 3pm. And this is just a coffee (& maybe cake) catch up.

Any and all suggestions welcome. Thanks.
