Hey, I am one of the former mods of /r/startpages (quit a few days ago since I don't use reddit at all anymore). Unfortunately I'm not sure if it's possible to send out a mass message to subscribers. I was hoping the private subreddit message would be enough to get the ball rolling over here but I guess I was wrong.
I was on /r/startpages since it's conception and know it took a long time to grow the community there as well. I do believe we'll hit a good momentum over here eventually but I am open to suggestions on growing faster.
I started a job during the pandemic that doesn't even have an office in my province so I'm not going back to the office. I'm super happy about it, I can't even picture myself being in an office anymore. I have so much more free time without having the commute and being able to do chores while on the clock
Yeah this is why I'm not a big fan of sites that have "Free Speech" as their number one thing. You can't tolerate the intolerant and freedom from hate speech is more important than unchecked free speech.
I think self promotion is alright sometimes like in the case where someone writes a really detailed technical breakdown of something. It's easier to format complex subjects on your own blog than in a thread. I totally agree if the entire purpose of someone's account is to boost their own website though
Yeah I am. I know there's a way to filter out keywords and I'd do that but I would still like to hear of any major developments. I just don't want to hear the same stories repeated over and over again
Beehaw is defederating from sh.itjustwor.ks and Lemmy.world.Personally I think it's silly to be upset over it considering defederation is one of the selling points of Lemmy.
Beehaw is just going for a more curated experience which I think is completely fine. I'm sure once they have more moderators they'll consider refederating anyway.
Agreed. It's the one thing I kind of worry about with the fediverse. I don't want to lose my account and subscriptions if and when the instance I signed up for gets shut down due to lack of funds
I own a subreddit that I'll admit that it isn't the largest but I'm going to be putting a link to the new corresponding Kbin magazine in the private message. I'm hoping other subreddits will as well
