Some unsorted thoughts I had watching the first episode:
- I don't remember Aqua being so edge-lord-y. At least I wasn't annoyed by him in the first season but here I (slightly) am.
- How old is this Himekawa character? With the stubble, he looks like 30-somethings are often depicted in anime, and I'm uncomfortable with him trying to get close to Kana.
- I liked how they conveyed the impact the "good acting" had on others during the rehearsal. I thought that was a visually stunning and elegant way to bring that plot point across. Too bad that they had to go and have the characters talk about it extensively as well. It's show and tell. But I can excuse it somewhat as it is at least relevant to their motivations, but eh.. I just wish they would not spell everything out and trust in the viewer's emotional intelligence to pick up on it anyway.
- Not a fan of OP and ED songs. Both were absolute bangers in season 1, so I was hoping season 2 would deliver as well.
I liked the first half of the show a lot more than the latter. The direction it took towards the end took out all the originality of the early episodes and turned it into just generic idol drama.
That gives me hope. Honestly, if not for the OP I would have dropped it midway through.
I don't have any particular thoughts on her voice though. She sounded a bit "robotic" but it's about what I'd expect here. I guess her voice will shift slowly toward the more natural spectrum as she grows more human over time. The same for her expression. At least that's what I would do if I had a say in the production.
By the synopses it sounds like the MC is trying to carve her place in the world, without relying on the others.
It's more about her slowly learning to rely on others after being worked to death on Earth and getting burned by her fiancee in the isekai world. The not relying on others part is the status quo and the journey is opening up and starting to trust others to the point where she can comfortably start to rely on others. At least that's what I think the story is about, but over that is a layer of slow-burn romance, so the underlying plot might be missed by some.
On the other hand, the biggest localization scandal (for lack of a better word) didn’t happen at the translation, it happened when failed YA authors were allowed to rewrite the work, which will still probably be a problem. So it might not do very much good either.
I think this is an important point. If this can take the translator's ego out of the equation it would be a clear win. But then, they would probably insert it back again in the revision stage. My best case scenario would be that with the AI doing the heavy lifting there is enough human workforce going around so that those type of translators who rewrite the story find themself jobless.
Incredible last episode. The OST for the epic moment was the best I’ve heard this season and I give this episode a full 10/10. With the overall series getting a 9/10. I would have also loved to see a 14th episode with just comfy everything is alright vibes to cap it off.
Holy wow… MC is hard to watch. OP is by Tokino Sora so I want it to become a hit, but I don’t know if I can warm up to that type of MC.
In the context of my work, translations done by LLMs are working great so far and have no problem grasping context. And that is with general models and not specialized ones for the task which I assume this will be. So I will give it a chance instead of outright jumping on the AI hate train.

Not the same thing. Not even close.
Japanese Publishers Invest in AI Manga Translation Startup

>Japanese publishers, including Shueisha and Shogakukan, have invested $4.9 million in Mantra, a startup leveraging AI to accelerate manga translation.
I don't read many mangas, so I don't know how good or bad the translations are, but I thought the news was interesting at least.
That thumbs up had me rolling
There absolutely had to be a naked kid for no plot reason at all other than to pacify the pedos. Two scenes later it's back to fox form as if nothing ever changed. I'm so sick of this shit in anime.
How many episodes in a row was that now with just people sitting around a table talking?
I interpreted that Mutsumi sees Jiro as something akin to a replacement for her missing Dad. But the wording of this episode about responding to her feelings gives me Usagi Drop PTSD. I really enjoy this series and don't want to live in constant fear that this turns into something like that.
I was under the impression that the yokais were only living in that village but this episode we see them everywhere. I'm not too fond of the man in black and a demon lord though. It takes away from the mystical yokai setting and brings the series into chuuni fantasy.
I found the "it got viral" shout endearing when there were barely any comments. It really shows that the girls are starting from scratch.
Okay, hear me out. I have a theory:
spoiler
Zooted Akira is just 7g transformed Gawr Gura.
I don’t know if I’m a genius or if I’m slowly going mad here.
The setting has so much potential to break out of the confines of “normal” storytelling, yet you could see the culprit coming from a mile away.
Also, does anyone understand why turning young doesn’t kill her anymore? Is it because the source is no different?
I disklike plots where everything could be resolved if one person would just say what they saw or heard. A simple “Yo, I just heard them talking about how they want to assimilate us into their weird mushroom tribe” would have solved everything.
I hate it when good but naive characters get preyed upon by cults and swindlers the same way someone might hate seeing a kitten getting beaten. It makes me angry and I stop enjoying whatever I'm watching or reading. Luckily it turned out okay in the end, but I can’t say I enjoyed this episode very much at all.
Yes, but in Goblin Slayer the human victims didn't fall in love with the goblins and had severe psychological trauma as a result of what happened to them.
Here the human girls are reduced to sex wish fulfillment for the reader: "wohoo you goblins killed my friends and abducted me, please let me ride this tasty MC dick in a orgy". I had more respect for the show in the first episode where the first group of girls rather took poison.
Hey there.

It's official. You're not an otaku nerd anymore if you say Isekai but someone with an extensive vocabulary. Don't let anyone tell you anything else!

The series has a very likable cast and mixes comfy reverse isekai moments with fantasy characters gushing over modern Earth food and entertainment and adventuring action episodes in the isekai world.

Hello everyone, both old and new!
It has become very quickly clear to me that the ani.social instance is a better fit for this community. Comparing the engagement alone over at .ml after 8 months and here after only 3 days is hardly something to dispute. And that isn't even counting the support from mods of "adjacent" communities. Special thanks to @wjs018@ani.social!
So I decided, with both a heavy heart and anticipatory elation, to go along with the migration and make it permanent. I closed down the .ml community and going forward I'll post my weekly updates only here.
There is also good news (more good news?)! Honestly, it has been a struggle to keep it up over the last few months, and actually seeing some engagement here right off the bat did wonders for my (renewed) motivation. So yesterday I channeled my inner motivational demon lord and set up 3 things for the community:
- a Light Novel Wiki (reachable at https://lnwiki.bitkata.de/)
- a Discord Server (Invite Link: https://discord.gg/VJ7yrfq2ex)
- a clean Minecraft Server (add "yurgenschmidt.bitkata.de" to your server list)
Necessary (for currently 17 users)? No, but let's start the new home for the community with a bang ;)
---
I hope the community will thrive here and we can enrich our reading hobby with additional discussions.

Hey everyone. What seems to have been established itself as the main anime related instance, ani.social, has been defederated from Lemmy.ml.
I am wondering if it would be better to move this community over here so I will copy my posts from lemmy.ml here in ani.social for a while as well and then see where more engagement is happening. Since I create the posts by hand (I can’t program a bot) I don’t want to have this a permanent solution, but I’ll give it at least a few months or until it’s clear where the greener pastures are.
So basically:
- There is a new LightNovel community on ani.social now
- You can all vote where the permanent home should be by using whichever you like better.
