cannot get an even first layer with a voron trident
  • My guess would be from one side of the x-axis to the other, because then on one side the nozzle to probe offset would be less in Z then on the other. But it could also be anywhere else. Can you check if your frame is square?

  • cannot get an even first layer with a voron trident
  • I feel you OP. I have a Hypercube Evo that I can't for the life of me get a leveled bed with. I've swapped linear rails with MGN, switched to multiple probes including a beacon that I still need to install but probably won't help seeing this post.

I think your frame isn't straight, there's twist somewhere that combined with an offset from probe to nozzle means it's impossible to remove with probing as the offset in Z between nozzle and probe changes over X and/or Y. That's the only thing I can think of at this point.

  • Welcome to the Arch forums :D

  • Btw, I use Arch (via EndeavourOS*)
  • It's not about opinion, it's about the fact you can't go to the Arch forums in case you are running into issues while running Endeavour. Whether that's an issue or not is up to the user.

  • Btw, I use Arch (via EndeavourOS*)
  • These boards are for the support of Arch Linux, and Arch ONLY. If you have installed Archbang, Artix, Chakra, EndeavourOS, Evo/Lution, Manjaro, Whatever, you are NOT running Arch Linux. Source

  • Try saying that on the Arch forums and see what they think about that statement.

Keeping with the theme I see ;)

  • Recommend a distro for a 13-year-old gamer
  • This is the old SteamOS from over a decade ago and isn't usable anymore. The modern SteamOS from the Steam Deck isn't available yet for desktops.

  • Good distro for mostly gaming system?
  • SteamOS 3 is only available for Steam Deck at the moment (or other handhelds in the near future). There is no desktop version for it yet. SteamOS 1 is over a decade old and not usable anymore.

Good luck with Mint or Bazzite! Either should serve you well.

  • Good distro for mostly gaming system?
  • I would suggest Linux Mint over Ubuntu. It's beginner friendly, very stable and overall a very good choice for any purpose. It's based on Ubuntu so most of the stuff you find online applies to it as well. The APT package repository contains most if not all the software you might need.

Down the line almost every distro will be suitable for gaming.

  • Is Linux support still needed nowadays, or is Steam OS good enough?
  • Thank you for sharing your findings, those are interesting reads. Good luck with the development. I signed up for theailing list out of curiosity.

  • I've heard that Steam provides some guidelines to get your games to work well with Proton. I'm not able to find them but maybe they're behind a developer portal or something. If it works with Proton there's no reason to aim for a native Linux binary since your time will be better spent elsewhere.

  • Must-have Native Linux games under £15 in the Steam Spring Sale 2025
  • Proton has been a blessing and a curse. What's the point of making a native Linux version when you can more easily make it work well with Proton (or don't bother at all and it might still work with Proton).

  • Really? I tried AC1 a few times but I found it just so repetitive. Still the one I've enjoyed most regardless.

  • As Epic Games continue ignoring Linux / Steam Deck for Fortnite they're putting it on Windows Arm
  • If that's the case they should not say stuff like "oh we would totally support Linux if the Steam Deck would have sold 10 million copies, the userbase is just too small now" but then proceed to support ARM which has a much smaller userbase still while there's not even a guarantee it will outgrow Linux in the near future. Just quit the BS and say you'll never want to support Linux.

  • As Epic Games continue ignoring Linux / Steam Deck for Fortnite they're putting it on Windows Arm
  • This totally invalidates their argument "Linux isn't big enough to care about". I highly doubt there are more Windows Arm gamers than Linux gamers.

The Wii Motion Plus add-on added gyroscopes, but later controllers integrated both into a single unit). The IR bar was just for the Wii controller to figure out which detection was towards the TV.

  • no C6 state on 5950X

I noticed yesterday that my 5950X never goes into C6 state, as Powertop only shows C0 C1 and C2. I know there have been issues with Zen and Zen+ regarding C6 states but it shouldn't be a problem from Zen2 forwards? I tried running zenstates --c6-enable but that didn't seem to work and I couldn't find any settings in the bios of my Gigabyte X570 Ultra.

Is there a way to enable C6 states? I'm running Arch on the Zen kernel with ZFS modules. (I also notice the same behaviour on my Proxmox server which has a 5700X)
