Rich countries silencing climate protest while preaching about rights elsewhere, says study
  • The report this article is based on is actually called "On Thin Ice: Disproportionate Responses to Climate Change Protesters in Democratic Countries"

The title of the article is a bit misleading including the term "rich countries", especially as that term is not used once in the article.

In my mind measuring the level of democracy is harder than the wealth of a nation.

  • I could see Starmer's Labour doing this for sure; they don't want another Jeremy Corbin again, and are doing their best to rid the party of outspoken 'leftists'.

  • Feeling inconsistent
  • I used to climb loads about a year ago, and I was doing quite well, for my standards at least. I enjoyed bouldering, lead-climbing and trad.

Unfortunately I had to take a break for mental health reasons. Now I want to get back into it again, I am finding every time I go I am just getting so frustrated with how hard I find things now. But it's not that I'm finding it hard, I don't mind not completing a difficult problem, it's that I am genuinely struggling to even start some of these climbs, and it's so demoralising.

The only climbs I can climb at the moment are the very easiest in the gym, their first level of climbs. But they are sooooo easy that I get very little satisfaction from them.

Again, I apologise for the rambling post, I just needed to vent or I think I'd cry

Does anyone have any tips for keeping going even when you're finding it hard to get started climbing?

I'd very much appreciate any tips at all.

  • Anything, or anyone, that speaks positively of 'Coddling of the American Mind' should be approached with extreme scepticism.

An interesting resource for people looking to combat shit like this is the podcast 'If Books Could Kill'.

I don't nessecirily always agree with the hosts' wider takes on things, but their reading of these types of books is pretty spot on.

  • The "safest" way of self hosting

    Hello peoples,

I am looking for tips on how to make my self-hosted setup as safe as possible.

Some background: I started self-hosting some services about a year ago, using an old lenovo thin client. It's plenty powerful for what I'm asking it to do, and it's not too loud. Hardware wise I am not expecting to change things up any time soon.

I am not expecting anyone to take the time to baby me through the process, I will be more than happy with some links to good articles and the like. My main problem is that there's so much information out there, I just don't know where to start or what to trust.

    Anyways, thank you for reading.
