We have vehicles for all types of nature's elements except for fire
  • Came her to say this. Literally riding on the hot air from a big fire.

  • Wreck the economy because it only works for the billionaire class.
  • That... is a very...VERY BAD IDEA.

Billionaires have enough money to survive an economic crash without batting an eyelid. Do you?

  • Tolerating intolerance
  • True. Social shaming is a very effective tool against this stuff. I draw a hard line at laws that stop it, but I see your point.

  • Tolerating intolerance
  • There should never be legal consequences for it. I am absolutely for everyone and anyone to be able to say as much racist, sexist, homophobic or what-have-you crap as they want. BUT I agree that the social consequences should be allowed to thrive. Act like a jerk; people are jerks right back. Act like an absolute piece of shit; guess how people treat you? I think that all this sabre rattling about censoring hate speech is just driving the attention-whores into the public forum, not because they actually hate the people they say they do, but because they're attention whores.

  • Tolerating intolerance
  • Intolerance must be put down, with force. It is not hypocritical. It is not paradoxical.

The human capacity for cognitive dissonance will never cease to amaze me.

  • Tolerating intolerance
  • A democracy can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largess from the public treasury.

    • Alexis de Tocqueville
  • Tolerating intolerance
  • They have a right to say anything they want so we can make an example of them and they don’t go into hiding and do dumb shit.

Well... that's not very freedom of you.

  • Double checking compatibility of new PC

I am about to make the switch to Linux fully after a brief test period some time ago. Since you are all most likely more tech savvy than I, I wanted to ask if there were any immediate problems you see with this PC for running Linux Mint. I'm not aware of any, but it wouldn't be the first time I was wrong.

Any help, advice, or even alternative hardware recommendations are appreciated.

My reaction varies quite a bit.
  • I've grown so used to the companions falling in love with within a week in every RPG that I don't even notice anymore. Personally, I legitimately like Shadowheart. I've tried the Karlach romance, and she wasn't doing it for me. Dunno why. Lae'zel has more going on than I gave her credit for at the start, but Shart is still my girl.

  • My reaction varies quite a bit.
  • Strange. Works fine on PC. Sorry, man.

  • You've got four friends over. They don't play D&D, or any TTRPGs. They spot your cabinet full of awesome D&D minis, and your cool poly dice, and say 'hey could we play now?' What do you do?
  • I've been doing this for a while, so I've got old modules saved in my head. I also know generally what is required to run a successful one. What I would personally do is say "Yeah, sure. But I'll need a bit to get ready. Give me 30 minutes." I would then use a tool like 5etools to whip up a bunch of pre-generated characters and hand them out. If I had my printer handy, I'd print them. Then I'd run them through something like the Delian Tomb that Matthew Colville made (https://youtu.be/zTD2RZz6mlo?list=PLlUk42GiU2guNzWBzxn7hs8MaV7ELLCP_), a simple orc or bandit raid on a town, or whatever else I thought was cool in the moment.

I hope that helps. I've been DMing for over ten years now and playing for almost twenty, so Idk how well my technique would work for you.

  • The iPhone 13 mini is dead, leaving small phone lovers in a lurch
  • Why? Why do they make so few small phones? We have the tech, and people like me really prefer it over the behemoths of the modern day. WHYYYYYYY?

EDIT: That gif came out WAY bigger than I expected. Apologies to your eyes, my friends.

  • Unity will quietly waive controversial fees if developers switch to its ad monetisation service - report
  • My problem with it is not monetizing; it is the changing of your monetization to affect games that were sold under a different model. If this was just the new TOS, ok fine. It would suck, but it's their right to make whatever shitty monetization they want. But retroactively inflicting this on games? Shocking the development world with only a few months warning when game development takes years? No, that is not ok.
