  • The HG scene sounds more interesting, but I have way more personal attachment to the Nu. That being said... that's a lot of fin funnels.

  • Look what killed Prime in the animated movie.

Yeah, it's the little purple gun:

It's always imprecise at best when doing cross-universe comparisons, but there's just a massive amount of difference in firepower, armor, and scale. There's no contest IMO.

  • I'm one of those heathens that read through for the first time in publication order. The ancient civilization side trips were a bit disorienting at first but I managed.

  • The only other single bladed nipper I've used is the USA Gundam Store brand, which is manufactured by Simp if I'm reading the label correctly. It cuts clean, but not flush. There's always like 1mm of nub left. Not sure if they're all like that or I just got a bad pair, but if I have to do nub cleanup anyway I might as well just use a cheapie set of nippers.

FWIW I'm still on my first SPN-120 nipper. They're about 5 years old, and between my fiancé and I, I don't even know how many kits that is. They started to feel not quite as sharp about a year ago, so I grabbed the USAGS ones because cheaper and free shipping. After testing them out, I bought a backup set of Godhands in case my original gets dropped or otherwise damaged.

Not a single bladed nipper, but still surprisingly useful, is the Mr. Easy Nipper. Yes, the one that looks like nail clippers. They are my go-to for nubs that Bandai decided to put on inside arcs or otherwise hard to reach places.

  • Engineer Guy went years between books uploads. I had to do a double take when he came up in my feed a few months ago.

  • Yep, this is definitely back from the no-grade days. I picked it up from PB as an oddity because it was cheap, and if we never get another Devil Gundam, well, it's fine I guess.

What did you use for nub cleanup? I've got a no-name glass nanofile that I got for cheap on Amazon. Between that and some soft-backed fine nail files/buffers, most plastics come up super glossy. Clear pieces can be hit and miss, but as long as the snip didn't stress too deep it's usually okay.

  • It's almost as if political dynasties/neoptism/cronyism shouldn't be a thing. Fuck Trump. And fuck Menendez. And Kennedy. Bush, Clinton, Cheney, Paul, Ashcroft, and probably dozens of others that aren't coming immediately to mind.

Form the minute lil Robert declared he was running, the local media simply treated him as the heir to his dad's old seat. Because it was true. He cruised on connections, many of them because his daddy is a crook. I'm hoping Andy Kim can primary senior if he wriggles free again, but Murphy's wife is also running and would you look at that, now we're right back at unqualified people pretending they can govern just because of who they're related to.

Maybe one day junior will prove that he's not just riding coattails as a golden boy. But it's going to take more than an outburst to do it.

  • Alternate headline:

"Nepo baby of corrupt scumbag throws tantrum, makes good points; still nepo baby who had positions handed to him on silver platter"

  • Thanks, I'll have to keep that in mind. We just started season 5 of TNG so it shouldn't be too much longer before DS9 is up.

  • I've also hung onto my old CRT (and consoles, players, etc.), I just haven't had anywhere to hook it up for the past decade plus. My Blu-ray player does a pretty good job at upscaling, but you're right - SD is going to look a lot better on the originally targeted hardware.

  • This is why I own most of star trek on dvd. Cant take that away from me.

I was so disappointed when the HD remasters stopped. I snapped up TOS, Animated, TNG, and all the movies on Blu-ray (replacing DVDs in the case of the movies and TNG) despite them being available on Netflix at the time. I was really looking forward to catching up with DS9 and Voyager the same way since I was only able to catch them sporadically when they were airing... but no, it seems these are doomed to remain in SD purgatory.

  • Live with underlying existential dread for decades. Watch as "doing what you love" becomes "hating what you used to love because you're forced to do it so that there's enough numbers in the computer to prove that you're worthy of continued existence." Contemplate the pointlessness of it all on a daily basis. Be reminded that your feelings are invalid because "other people have it worse" every time the topic comes up. Nod listlessly as "successful" people tout their own hard work while ignoring any factor luck and privilege played, then tune out when they shift into the dissonant duet of "I succeeded because I am exceptional" and "anyone can do the same if they just work harder."

Wake up the next morning and realize there's roughly 30 more years of this, barring a massive coronary or aneurism or something.

  • My thought process went a little something like:

Holy shit that's a sweet photo, is it shopped? AI?

Omg those dresses are gonna be covered in dog hair.

Why would it be illegal to use a dog as a flower girl?

    ...OH! 🤦‍♂️

  • Looking good! Can't wait to see it all set up... but I will, because I totally agree with waiting on the backup piece to arrive before making any permanent modifications.

  • He tried blackjack already. Poor guy couldn't figure out how to keep multiple casinos, an industry known for basically printing money, afloat. Truly baffling considering what a genius businessman he is.

  • While others complained about the glass ceiling, you took your fight to that pesky floor. It may have eaten you alive, but for a brief moment in time you were a shining example of boldly going. Here's to breaking new ground, Wise Lieutenant. 🍻

  • (a) how is Starfleet anything but a farce if a mutinous cadet can be promoted straight to captain

Pike tagging Kirk like that jolted me right out of the first movie. Just... no. I still found it enjoyable overall, but the contrivances really detracted from the experience.

  • Is it weird, as a tail end gen x/elder millennial, to really hope Lehrer was right about this one?
