I'm at 50 / 50. Went 100% Linux 6 months ago and never looked back. Didn't even bother with dual booting, it's all in or nothing.

I still don't get what's so weird?

I just made the switch from Windows to Linux a week ago and here are my thoughts:

Use Xwayland if you have several monitors with different refresh rates.
I switched from Xorg to Xwayland because I have three monitors with different refresh rates and Xorg doesn't work well with several refresh rates. XWayland is Wayland but with backwards compatibility so you can run Xorg applications as well.

Use Btrfs filesystem on your drives
Btfs is in my opinion the more modern filesystem and it can handle a lot more files than Ext4.

My parts:

• AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D
• AMD Radeon RX 7900XTX
• 32 GB memory

I am on Arch Linux with KDE plasma as desktop environment and XWayland as display server.
My experience has generally been positive except some annoyances in the beginning and I will never switch back. Although if I wanted less complicated setup but still Arch, I would go with Endevour OS.

I am really happy with the performance so far. I can max out FPS in Overwatch 2 (600 is max) with no stutter or anything.
I get 240 fps in Mount and blade: Bannerlord 2 and same thing here, no stutter.

I'll be joining the Linux team soon! My new parts arrive in a couple of days and I will only use Linux from here on out, except at work unfortunately.

I feel like just the act of surviving isn't specific enough to call it a survival game. I actually had this discussion with a friend of mine not too long ago and some interesting points were brought up. Is Sims a survival game? You do have to eat and take care of your Sims in order to not die yet I personally wouldn't classify it as a survival game. What sets Sims and Rimworld apart? Well I would say the biggest difference is the struggle and feeling like it actually takes effort to survive. This is why I find it hard to call even Minecraft a survival game, it doesn't focus on the aspect of survival enough, it's simply a mere distraction.

I will also be doing a lot of gaming and after watching and reading about Linux gaming, it seems you will generally lose about 10% FPS compared to windows. I also heard that Arch is supposed to be one of the better distros for gaming.

Good advice to be honest. Luckily I have a lot of patience so I think I should be fine in the end.

I've tried installing Arch on a virtual machine before, so I am not completely new to it I suppose. I think I will be fine with the added complexity of Arch. Good advice to check out the Arch forums before updating, thanks!

No, I am not going to use RAID. The only reason I have two SSDs is just for the extra space for games and all my projects I work on. Drive encryption is not something I have thought about, not sure if it's beneficial for me.

Great comment, I've decided to go for Arch and I know that it might come with a lot of tinkering and work. Thanks for the tips and encouragement!

Manjaro comes with a lot of bloat that I don't want on my system, that's why Arch sounds so interesting to me.

Can you give some examples on how it's high maintenance? I am not afraid of tinkering with the computer to get what I want.
The reason I am interested in Arch Linux is because it's not bloated and I have full control over what I will have installed on my system.
