Nuclear isn't perfect, but it is the best we have right now.
  • Also we do have the ability to re-utilize waste in different types of reactors until it is essentially entirely spent. There is a complete cycle available. Nobody talks about it though because you know, not as cost-effective

  • Can't get that metallic taste out of my mouth
  • Have you seriously never just had that one moment where your hands were full and you needed the keys out of your hand for a second but you knew you were about to need the keys again shortly so you just put them in your mouth real quick so that you can do what you need to do and then grab the keys again

  • We'll settle for homes we own, but that's too much apparently 🙄
  • I find myself temporarily kind of sort of not really homeless. I bought five acres of land, with an agreement on file that the county would open the barrier upon purchase. Here I am 5 months later still struggling to even get them to answer my calls much less open my barrier. So while I have land, and an RV, I have nowhere to put it.

The majority of RV parks have no availability for long-term stay, even if they did they cost pretty much the same if not more than renting an apartment which is stupid. And most places are insanely hostile towards RVs staying anywhere else. I've been lucky in that I happen to be near a rest stop that is both usually not busy and absolutely huge. I've been sneaking under the radar staying here longer than I should occasionally hanging out at a wallmart or something during business hours to avoid being noticed.

But this is getting harder and harder as most public Waste stations have closed, and the ones that are open still have gotten rid of their potable water so I might be able to dump my Wastewater but I have nowhere to then refill water.

I built this RV to be great for 24/7 living, I have over 4 kilowatts of solar on the roof, I have over 15 KW hours of battery storage so I don't even need an electrical hookup. I have a full size heat pump hot water heater, two chest freezers one of which is to use as a fridge, and I have about 100 gallons freshwater capacity. On top of that I have enough filtration on my water system to make it so that I could probably just safely use stream water if I really wanted. I've got multiple levels of whole home size filtration right at the tank, and then for all my drinking and cooking water it goes through an additional 10 stage filter system that has reverse osmosis and alkaline remineralization. It's in good condition, clean, and it's hard to miss the solar lining the whole thing. It's obviously not a dilapidated homeless RV but people treat me like I'm some kind of homeless crack addict just because I'm in an RV.

  • Arizona toddler rescued after getting trapped in a Tesla with a dead battery | The Model Y’s 12-volt battery, which powers things like the doors and windows, died
  • Yes i agree the lack of external manual release is a problem. Wouldn't be hard to put one on the underside of the door frame if it truly must be hidden. Their external door solution appears to be the jumping port in the frunk to get the 12v system alive again. Which is obviously a shit solution.

  • The rear is under a cover, I will agree that that is dumb it should be in the same place as the front. Or if the goal was to avoid children randomly pulling it while going down the road at the very least it shouldn't be covered and just in the little pocket cubby thing. That's a valid complaint, although at the end of the day even with a normal car a toddler who was in their seat would likely be screwed as the child lock would most likely be activated.

The real issue here is a lack of any external manual release, wouldn't be that difficult to put one along the bottom side trim of the door. This would allow you to both give it a keyhole and have it out of the way aesthetically. I'd say just put a manual handle on myself, but if you absolutely must have completely smooth the hidden handle door at the very least make sure there's an external one somewhere for manual release

  • Arizona toddler rescued after getting trapped in a Tesla with a dead battery | The Model Y’s 12-volt battery, which powers things like the doors and windows, died
  • If the toddler is locked into their seat they likely aren't opening any door regardless. This Is Us ignoring the fact that most rear doors have a child lock button that is usually activated at least most parents I've seen with toddlers generally activate that button.

There are so many legitimate things to complain about here I'm just annoyed by people basically saying wow how does it not have a manual release, or why is it hidden. When it's not.

The real problem here is the lack of any external manual release. Obviously it would still need to somehow be locked with a key that is not electronic, but there should still be some type of manual release even if it's on the bottom trim of the door for the sake of your Aesthetics or whatever. The complete and utter lack of any external manual release is the problem here but nobody is talking about that and is instead just making shit up about how there is no manual release for the inside, or it's hidden, or difficult to use, I'm just tired of people making shit up.

  • Easy enough to get out, if you have a couple braincells to rub together. The manual release is not hidden, covered, obfuscated, or even in a weird location. It's literally right on the door handle

Edit: turns out this is only in the M3, the Y, X, And CT are all designed by absolute idiots, and i joined them by not looking into all models

  • She died of stupid, the release is literally right on the door. It's not hidden, obfuscated, covered, or in any way shape or form difficult to use. Just another idiot that didn't bother learning what all the controls on their new card did.

That being said, even with a manual release they most likely would have died anyway. As once your car is in the water unless you're able to open the door basically instantaneously upon hitting the water you're going to find that the door is impossible to open as the weight of the water will prevent it until such time as the car has filled with water to equalize the pressure. Generally speaking people that survive cars falling into water were able to get the window open, or just break it entirely. The door is almost never the Escape Route as it will not allow itself to be opened due to the difference in pressure

  • Only takes about a half second Google search to find out, it's literally a handle right on the door. Just above the window switches. It's not hidden, obfuscated, covered, or even in a weird spot

  • True, a toddler wouldn't think to look directly on the door handle. Not really the type of place you'd expect to find a door release you know /s

There is a lot of reasons to hate elon, and there is a lot of reasons to hate tesla. But it really pisses me off when people just make these circle jerk hate threads based on something they didn't even spend half a second Googling. It just makes all the legitimate issues easier for people to blow off

  • Nothing about it is hidden, obfuscated, or even in a weird spot. It's literally right on the fucking door handle. There's a lot of reasons to hate elon, and there's a lot of reasons to hate tesla. Let's stick to the legitimate ones instead of making shit up, it just weakens the arguments for the actual issues

  • It's not fucking hidden, it's right on the fucking door. Right there, in plain view. Fuck elon but equally fuck idiots who never read their manual or bother to learn fucking anything about a product then claim bullshit like that. Nothing about this is fucking hidden.

The rear doors also have one, that's the only one you could argue is "hidden" as it's in the little storage pocket area

Sure here are a few videos about specifically plastic. The us is the focus in most of them as it generates the most plastic overall, however the key issues mentioned affect the entire industry worldwide (which most of them mention) if you dig around other recycling studies you find lots of cardboard is contaminated before ever reaching the recycling center. I wasn't clear enough about the logos and stuff, it's not really the ink but the plastic based wax layer over it to keep it looking nice. The boxes that squeek when you let em slide out your hands

  • Which side are you?
  • Just a reminder that recycling is a lie, and that pretty much anywhere in the world 90% of plastic just ends up in the landfill regardless of whether or not you properly sorted into recycling. The cost of sorting, processing, and then reusing the plastic is more expensive than simply using new plastic so it's not profitable. And the vast majority of cardboard is on usable due to the different types of dyes used to put logos colors Etc on it or is otherwise contaminated on its way to the recycling facility

Pretty much the only materials actually for real reused and recycled is glass and metals like aluminum and steel

  • My Windows Computer Just Doesn't Feel Like Mine Anymore
  • Your not too dumb to learn linux. I know it seems scary, and a lot of the autistic people that like it will try to convince you it's only for really smart people. But at the end of the day a lot of basic tasks are actually easier on linux. There are some that are harder gaming used to be very difficult for example. Although thanks to valve, and the steam deck for the most part if it's a steam game you can just click play and it's probably going to work.

But as an example of a more basic thing, let's say you want to install an application.

Windows: go to Google, type app name, make sure it's the real actual website officially for that app and not a sponsored result or some other fake website, find the download, pray it's not buried in a bunch of fake download buttons, double click the exe, be careful to make sure it's not installing any toolbars or other packaged bullshit, finally get your application.

Linux: there are some variations (apt dnf pacman) but all of them work the same, for arch it's "pacman -Syu <name of app>" id argue thats WAY easier. If it's not in the main repos chances are high it's in the AUR (arch user repository) so you just yay -Syu <name of app>. It's not harder (imo) just different.

I've actually had a number of pretty average computer user friends let me help them transition to Linux because of the crap Windows is doing lately. And after getting used to the differences they agree that Linux is not actually harder, it's just different, they grew up with windows, they are used to how things are done on windows, so it seemed difficult just because it wasn't the same. But once they got used to it they would actually agree that a lot of things are actually easier.

Now whether or not you want to put in that time to learn those differences, and change how you use your computer, is an entirely different question that you have to ask yourself. But you are not too stupid to learn Linux because realistically it's not any more difficult than Windows is

  • Used VPN for cheaper YouTube Premium? Congrats, your subscription has been canceled
  • If you use the default piped instance then it's usually overloaded. You can either try finding an alternative or just host your own, personally I do the ladder I rented a VPS for 20 bucks a month and I host my own pipe there

  • Where is the login

I feel like I'm going insane, I can see people talking about logging in. I have seen screenshots of the login screen. And when I attempt to submit a post or something it tells me I need to be logged in to do that. But I cannot for the life of me no matter how hard I search the settings find somewhere to log in. I have tried searching for account, login, profile in the settings search and found nothing I have manually gone through every single category and cannot find anywhere to log in. I have attempted to completely uninstall and reinstall the application. This is either the most elaborate gaslighting attempt against some random asshole in history or there is something wrong with my app
