Gotta agree. While I enjoy just vibing with the comrades here, having those clashes adds hilarity, memes and develops a culture that made eg GZD so unique.
You see, the purpose of the Western tanks wasn't to achieve anything on the battlefield anyway, it was to keep the crews safe so they can come back and downvote these posts
there is milk in so much things and in random places that shouldn’t be there like in bread. What does milk even contribute to it?
Not a big baker and not to discredit your struggle, but there's actually good reasons for milk in baking. The sugars, proteins and lactic acid in milk contribute heaps for texture, crust, taste, they activate other ingredients like yeast and the liquid itself adds moisture obviously. It's not like corn syrup that's artificially added to recipes, it's a very old and traditional ingredient in baking for good reason. Just sucks for people like you that can't eat it.
You will upvote this picture of dear supreme leader and if I see a single speck of dust on that upvote your entire family will get genocided by the killer dolphin gestapo!
I was gonna make a joke along the lines of "What an existing office worker looks like in current year:" and attach a picture of your average, depressed, hunchbaked, tired office worker.
Just Google literally refused to show me anything but extremely curated, staged stock photos of ''''''depressed''''' looking model types sitting at a lone, well lit, beautiful workdesk. Not sure what the lesson is, but I found it kinda fascinating how curated the output of that search was.
Looking at this thread and how all kinds of farming and landscaping in my experience are overwhelmingly male dominated profession it's probably not that extraordinary of an answer - but yeah, plants and gardening are awesome. I'm a big sucker for well built parks and botanical gardens too, not just forrests, meadows and fields.
Idk why but since this spring I really grew to love flowers as well. Still not big on cut, indoor flowers, but flowering bushes, trees and all kinds of plants this time of the year just brighten up your day heaps. They add so much colour, life and smell to even the most boring parts of cities.
Comrades, can you recommend me a decent RSS reader that is available on Android and Desktop (preferably Windows)?
My news sources are a hodgepodge of different social media sites atm which is impossible to maintain, to have an overview and actually know what I've read when. All the ads, the algorithms and the constant stream of irrelevant internet-drama spamming my feeds aren't helping either.

Isn't it something like 500m2 as well? Which sounds like a lot, because people are hilariously bad at visualizing numbers, but is actually just a ~22x22m square or about the size of a basketball court. That's not even enough for anything close to actual subsistence farming (Google says a family would need 1-3 hectares or 10000-30000m2), but at best some very small scale assistence for rural families.
Wild. I dismissed the reddit thing as some niche, performative stunt a few libs there would screech about for a day or two and didn't really pay attention to it beyond that. Didn't expect more than a couple handful of people making the switch tbh...seems like I was off by an order of magnitude or two lol
Hope hexbear joins soon, then the based peoples combined can effectively stir some shit on /All and scare the libs there
I was gonna edit my post, because I clicked around some more and saw that too. There's even a Porn lemmy now lmao. Mad how much everything has grown. Is all of that from the reddit thing or has it been growing over the past year?
On a related note, I only browse Local ever since I signed up here a year ago and iirc back then Lemmy itself sometimes had less activity than lemmygrad. Because of this post I just checked it out again and fucking hell it's grown.
If/when hexbear federates just between them, lemmy and us the fediverse should be over 2k daily users soon.
Yes, but lemmygrad is not a party, it is not an organization and what individuals cheer for online is immaterial to the collective positions of actually existing revolutionary parties. It isn't support either, because it isn't material.
As an example, the leftist parties in my country did have a problem with how to react to the war with many taking similar points that I have seen here.
Of course they've had problems and rightfully so, but again, we are not parties and what we can say and how we behave is not comparable to a revolutionary collective. We can post Stalin and Assad memes all day, actual organizations obviously can't. Us doing so does not influence actual praxis. They're two entirely different spaces that function differently and so can we as individuals in those spaces.
Enabling an autocrat fascist oligarch does not do anything to counter the bad stuff done by NATO and the community should take a firm stand against the use of war for the sake of satisfying the dreams of a tyrant.
I'm sorry, but this reeks of major main character syndrom. What some randoms post on a niche ML community on the interwebs has literally no material impact on this conflict. Whether we condemn, cheer on, ridicule or whatever either side of this conflict is entirely immaterial. A protracted, armed conflict is neither started, nor enabled, nor stopped because of shitposters anywhere. 99% of people on this board and a least 95% of people of the internet are totally divorced from this war and at the most are cheerleaders on the sidelines. This isn't 'enabling', it's inconsequential.
No war but class war
I agree and in actual praxis this should be any communist organizations maxim. lemmygrad isn't one though.
Who would've thought Western armor is just armor too and gets wrecked by artillery shells and ATGMs all the same? Turns out Westoids are just human too
Also, have the Brits sent challengers or am I misremembering?
Pretty sure they sent 14 of them. At the rate they're burning equipment we can probably expect to see some of their wrecks fairly soon too.
Has nothing changed really? I'm not in or from the US so this is hard for me the gauge, but I imagine this must've changed things for quite a few people. Not in the sense that the material conditions or the bourgeois state's character changed, but isn't that the wrong measure? Isn't that unrealistic in the context of the US itself?
But I imagine this must've had a massive impact on thousands and thousands of people's class consciousness, because class consciousness develops through struggle. This must've left its mark on a great many people, organizations, possibly whole strata of society.
Maybe the US comrades can share some experience, but has this really not left anything? Your organizations and communities just came out the other side unchanged?
Probably not a very creative one, but "landlord" shocked the hell out of me when I first moved to the anglo-sphere. Not sure why it never really registered with me before, but when my then flatmate handed me my tenants-agreement and told me about our landlord something just clicked. Still remember looking at him, thinking "my land...what the fuck". No idea how this isn't more inflamatory to anglos.
I'm not gonna make the point that it is inter-imperialistic, but imo while what you're saying about the history of the conflict is correct, it only proves aggression and imperialistic drive by NATO, it doesn't prove or disprove the "Russia is imperialist" side of the argument. NATO being the primary aggressor and being imperialist itself doesn't mean Russia can't also be imperialist, at least not if we talk about imperialism in a Marxist sense. Because in that sense imperialism isn't when aggression or expansion, it is a stage of development and the way countries at the stage of monopoly capitalism relate to other countries. It's fundamentally about surplus value extraction. Again, here I'm not making the argument that Russia is, I just don't think you really made the argument why it isn't.
I also don't think categorizing the conflict as inter-imperialist would make a 'both-sides equal' argument, because, again, imperialism in the Marxist sense isn't really a normative term and not derogatory, but a technical descriptor.
It also wouldn't negate the possibly positive ramifications of this war. Those things can coexist.
I ultimately don't think it really matters all that much either to communists outside of Ukraine and Russia. Communists in the US, Germany or wherever have to fight their domestic class antagonist. Liebknecht's parole is applicable as ever - Der Hauptfeind steht im eigenen Land! The main enemy is at home!
If this debate at all distracts us from fighting that main enemy, it has fulfilled its purpose. Whether or not Russia is at the stage of development we call imperialism is immaterial to our day to day praxis in our communities.
Literally licking their boots would be less degrading than this
+1 to joining a youth organization. That's the single best thing you can do. As individuals we're weak, ineffectual and alone. Only by joining the collective bodies of the organized working class can we really aid the cause and develop as communist personalities.
Depending on where you live you can also try organizing your school if you're still going. I have plenty of young comrades that joined by people organizing their schools and student bodies.
