  • Yeah, I don't see getting worked up about artistic taste. No one is forcing g them to read their stuff, and if someone actually is, their problem should be with whoever is forcing them to.

Let people enjoy their shit and move on.

  • You're really limiting yourself there. The whole idea is that you're connected with a bunch of other instances where you can see things that aren't hosted on your instance.

That's kind of like saying you only visit art galleries that are in New York, because that's where you live. There's a lot of great stuff there, sure, but you're missing out. And in this analogy, you have a free ticket to a bunch of other cities with interesting art galleries of their own.

  • Looks like it's will have to spell it out, then. This is a specific issue happening to Canadians who live in Nova Scotia, but it isn't a unique problem to Nova Scotians and if you focus simply on this one instance you will probably not be able to identify the underlying cause, which is affecting all Canadians. And while the problem at hand may be under provincial purview, it is a problem that is happening at the provincial level across the country. I'm sure we can find elected officials at all levels of government who have been strident against some position while they weren't in charge and suddenly don't want to change things as soon as they're in charge.

Your whole comment chain comes across with the same tone as saying we can't talk about the systemic problems in healthcare at a national level because they're a provincial matter and the strikingly similar problems from province to province are completely unrelated. 🙄

  • If the only thing wrong with your appliance is a damaged cord, which usually happens near where it's plugged into the wall, and it is a three-pronged cord, the information above is sufficient to replace the plug. Note that you will need to be able to identify the three wires and the color they represent, which is usually followed in decent power cords (of course, not all of them are decent).

Absolutely, if you aren't confident in your knowledge and don't have someone who can verify your work, don't do it. It's cheaper to throw away any given appliance than it is to throw away your home via an electrical fire. But basic AC electricity isn't that complicated, even if it's more complicated than basic DC electricity.

  • I wouldn't call him a faith-based movement so much as a populist movement. He just happened to have some talking points that overlapped with the faith-based movements, and he leaned into those to gain his market share. That isn't what I would call a defense of faith-based movements, either, more a reference of causation vs. correlation.
