The offensive reason you can’t shop at night
  • if you’re a shift worker surely you have other times available to do your shopping other than after 6pm on a Sunday? like Monday morning?

  • Three Brisbane men kicked off flight for allegedly vaping, drinking duty-free alcohol on board
  • I didn’t need to read the excerpt to know where this flight was heading.

the age of the third individual was the most surprising part.

  • Are eucalyptus trees really ‘widow makers’?
  • never heard them referred to as that, but then again this seems like a country term and I wouldn’t call the outer suburbs of Brisbane exactly country…

  • Not seeing all comments, curious as to why
  • this is how youtube looks with it turned on

  • Not seeing all comments, curious as to why
  • just hides comments on most sites/articles

so news articles, youtube, fediverse apparently lol

it was actually pretty nice to go to youtube and only see the video and the related videos column

  • Not seeing all comments, curious as to why
  • better than what I experienced last week which was literally no comments displaying on any thread, whether I was logged in or not

figured it was a bug, came back days later and still nothing.

… realised I had forgotten I turned on the “Block comments where they aren’t the primary focus” option on in 1Blocker which synced across my devices.

  • Mate, it's not like driving from DC to Philly
  • drove from Philly to Boston with a stop in NYC and it honestly wasn’t that bad

with that being said I would never dream of driving from Brisbane to Canberra again. next time I want to see snow I am flying down — the return trip was the worst.

I know they’re totally different distances but even to Sydney is a stretch for me these days.

don’t even get me started with driving north of Brisbane…

  • Stray cats are a 'big problem' in Queensland. Here's what to do if you spot one
  • I don’t think you interpreted the second part how they meant it…

  • Beginner Hiking/Walking Spots
  • my favourite hike.

I am a bit of a bigger person and it’s enjoyable. it’s tough, but if you pace it right it’s fine and the pay off is well worth it

stay away from mount coolum, it’s deceptively tough and honestly I don’t think it’s that great

  • New towers to dominate Indooroopilly skyline if plans get the nod
  • 100% agree, and I hope as working from home becomes more popular/more of a standard, I will be much less dependent on my car.

obviously this can’t be the case for everyone but i’d be happy not driving 2 hours a day for work, let alone 3-4 hours on public transport.

  • New towers to dominate Indooroopilly skyline if plans get the nod
  • I think until there’s better public transport to other areas of SEQ (and further even), we are going to always have a need for vehicles.

I would love to be able to catch a train to the heart of Caloundra, but for now the most efficient way for me to travel is to drive everywhere.

  • A beautiful winter afternoon in Shorncliffe
  • I got the notification ☺️

  • A beautiful winter afternoon in Shorncliffe
  • EXIF data, not meta data… Stupid bagel.

  • A beautiful winter afternoon in Shorncliffe
  • hahaha I am, and i hold my phone in my left hand. so when I take a photo, I rotate my phone clockwise which is “upside down” (camera lenses on the bottom of the phone) and gives me the same issue as OP.

  • A beautiful winter afternoon in Shorncliffe
  • normally web services will do the work for you by auto rotating and stripping the metadata. you could do a tiny edit like adjust the exposure by +/- 1 and then save. that should save the correct orientation.

I have a question for you though... are you left handed?

  • Any chances anybody saw what happened here?

By the time I noticed (only because she was crying so loud I could hear it over my podcast as I drove past), I did a loop back around the block to see if she was OK and the staff at the mitsubishi car yard were out with her, had moved her car and were consoling her.

Basically I was hoping to find out if whoever hit her did a runner or not? The poor thing was so upset.

Location: Corner of Milton Rd and Frederick Street, at the roundabout next to Toowong Cemetery

edit: removed photo, the driver actually posted on /r/brisbane

how many of you have genuinely ditched reddit?

due to the rolling blackout... I think it's had its effect.

I think I am done with reddit.

it's a shame because as someone who doesn't use Facebook it was nice to have a sense of local community I otherwise don't get online.

I still think besides the few odd regulars who brought the vibe down every chance they could, it was a genuinely great subreddit.

anyway, I'm just curious how many of you are well and truly done with reddit? not even going back for a peak?
