So how long until the Fediverse is monetized?
  • Fediverse is, well, federated. This means that it's spread across multiple servers that are independently run by their admins, but have agreed to work together and share communities between each other.

For example, lemmy.world is a site operating several communities, as are beehaw.org and lemmy.ml. One of them could choose to monetize, and that wouldn't affect the other sites. If new site pops up that is full of ads and spam, then other sites could decide to block communities from them on their site.

  • Who here is buying the Pixel Tablet?
  • I have one, and I think it's pretty good. Having an android tablet is convenient for video and reading, and the stand is good for keeping it upright if I'm reading programming books and want to have my hands free for typing.

My only problem so far has been the fingerprint reader. I'm not sure if it's a software issue or just a dirty read, but it's very hard to get a proper read of my finger. Hopefully a software patch will fix it so that the reader isn't so picky.
